"I've been looking for an amazing dermatologist, and Dr. He is so him! Dr. He removed red spots from my face, and he also removed a really bad looking big growth on my back. Somehow this magician did it all in a flash and without leaving any scaring at all. I know a little bit about the industry--I managed Tenaya Med Spa for years. I sometimes have former clients ask me who I now recommend, and up until I visited Dr. He and Dr. Welsh, I didn't know what to say. But wow, I sure do now--to experience is to believe. Dr. He's no-rush kindness and skill level is the best of the best. Even better than the best! "I've tried so many skin care products to address my acne, scars, and texture over the years and nothing worked. Then I went to a "medical spa" to treat my skin issues, which was a big mistake because most med spas just hire sales reps who are not medically trained or certified. They burned my face badly, did not know how to fix it, and told me to try products that made the condition even worse. That was when I decided to consult a dermatologist for a second opinion and was so lucky I found Dr. Austin at BACD!During the initial consultation, Dr. Austin explained what was causing my skin problems, came up with a treatment plan, and answered all of my questions. She's an expert in her field with extensive medical knowledge about how skin reacts to multiple factors such as lifestyle choices or other medical conditions, and I trust that she's considering everything holistically whenever she recommends a treatment. It has been 6 months ever since I started seeing Dr. Austin and my skin looks better than ever. She flawlessly filled old acne scars, removed pre-cancer bits and rosacea, smoothed wrinkles, snatched up my jawline and explained how anatomy and biochem work during my visits. "I have been seeing Dr. Austin for over 3 years now - and the compliments on my skin just keep increasing despite my age. She put me on a skincare routine that was medically grounded, personalized and quick to turn things around. And she addresses the whole person, from inside out, talking to me about the severe impact of stress on my skin. But what brings me to this review is that in the last year, I have been working with her on thickening my hair (another consequence of aging and stress - thinning hair!) and she has worked a miracle. "Dr. Austin and the wonderful team at BACD changed my life. I have always had eczema, but it was manageable. During the pandemic, I had a severe flare that covered my whole body and was so painful. It would not go away, and persisted for over a year. My old treatments did not work. I went to see Dr. Austin who took action, made a plan, and supported me throughout the treatment. Within 6 weeks, my skin was clear and has stayed that way. I am pain free. Now, she is helping me look and feel my best. BACD puts patients first. "I have been seeing Dr. Austin for 4 years now. I initially saw her when I was experiencing some difficult to treat acne in my early 20s. She listened to my concerns and really educated me on proper skin care. Since then she has continued to help provide new products/recommendations based on my needs at that time. I have also been seeing her for filler and botox treatments for the past two years. She has always listened to what I wanted and given me incredible results. She keeps things natural and really has an amazing eye for the face and facial structure. Beyond her work, she is a really incredible doctor. "This is my first time seeing a cosmetic dermatologist at 26 yrs old for acne scarring on my cheeks, jawline and some on my temples that I’ve had for well over 8 yrs. I’ve always been super self conscious about it and I think have stopped myself from doing things that I enjoy due to it. I was able to book an appt with Dr. He and he was very reassuring. I might’ve been too comfortable to the point I didn’t ask all the questions I now have as someone hesitant to move forward with any kind of treatment, due to the trauma of previous non cosmetic dermatologist. As a mixed (Asian & black) individual, I’ve always been skeptical about how my skin would be treated since I don’t solely have genes of one particular race (which I’m uncertain if it’s even a factor). With that in mind, I really like that he went over treatment options that would be most beneficial for my skin with minimal to no side effects.I plan to move forward with subcision to get the ball rolling for my scars. I was prescribed products that were pretty pricy. $700 in total with the consultation fee. I also asked about the pricing of each treatment that may be best for me. I don’t think I’m desperate enough to cash out on anything for the sake of my skin without extensive research and consultation but I feel, and from previous reviews I’ve read, Dr. He is highly knowledgeable, takes his patients into consideration and i don’t think this will be for naught. If I know I’m in good hands I will be sure to return. I’m very anxious but very excited to finally give my skin the healing it deserves. So far Dr. He gets 5 stars from me and I’m looking forward to being under his care in the near future. I’ll follow up with this review then :)."
"This review is long overdue! Dr. Austin is incredible at treating rosacea!! Dr. Austin has been life changing for me and my skin. I found her online from searching frantically for someone for years in the Bay who had experience working with rosacea. Rosacea started for me in my early 30s, what felt like out of no where during grad school. After trying many other things, including strictly cutting out foods that were irritating I was still having intense rosacea breakouts. Dr. Austin took pictures, explained what was happening and we went over my skin routine. I learned how there are different types of rosacea, she explained what can irritate it (which can include natural oils!) and then she gave me a very specific skin care routine with products. I saw results almost immediately after using sticking to the topical routine. I recently saw her after 3 years of sticking to my regimen and my skin has greatly improved. I flare maybe a few times a year with stress but it will usually go away that day with combo ointment meant for rosacea. I have even seen lines on my forehead go away with one of the topicals, an added bonus! She is also very encouraging, has a warm bedside manner. If you have been dealing with skin issues and the confidence behind that look no further, Dr. Austin is worth it!"

"I started seeing Dr. Welsh in my early 30’s for adult acne. She taught me proper skincare and set me up with the best products. I am checking in yearly to keep products on point with current skin changes. As I age, I need to choose to come in Every 4-6 months for botox & filler. Plus an occasional photo facial and laser hair removal treatments. It is now 20 years later I honestly could pass for ten years younger than I am. Dr. Welch is magical, in my opinion. If you ask her a question, you are going to get an honest, educated answer. I would not trust anyone else."
"This review is for Dr. Austin and her amazing staff! As a skincare professional I am very careful who I see for aesthetic procedures, and who I refer clients to. Dr. Austin is really the best of the best. She has an extremely good eye for detail and is very modest and intentional with her approach. Her treatment plan, from botox, to filler, RXs and lasers over the years has been spot on. She even knew to check my thyroid when I was experiencing hair loss. "Dr. Austin and team have worked with me on my rosacea and severe keloid scarring for several years. These are skin and body issues that other doctors cannot and will not treat. This clinic specializes in full service patient care. Meaning your medical issue will be addressed as well as the problem that may be causing it. And they work towards restorative care after the treatment. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for my skin needs. If you need basic, cosmetic, or restorative skin care - this is where you need to be! I am leaving this review because people suffering from severe skin issues will need guidance on where to go. And we need this kind of expertise and medical care in the Bay Area."
"I have been seeing Dr. Austin for almost 3 years now for acne scars treatment and my skin is totally transformed. People think I look at least 10 years younger than my age. I would say that my acne scars have been improved by 80% after multiple sessions of tca cross and laser genesis. Most of my ice pick scars have filled in. Recently I also had Fraxel laser to improve the shallow scars , black spots, and overall skin texture. Dr. Austin is amazing and she cares about her patient. She would call me after the procedure to make sure that I was doing fine. She also responded very quickly on all my questions related to post-procedure. Now my skin has been improved further after fraxel laser. I will continue to see Dr. Austin for other treatments to keep my skin young and heathy so I don’t age. Thank you Dr. Austin and her team. I also wanted to express my appreciation for Mary Krempa who has been doing my laser hair removal for. Now that my skin is so soft. I am happy with the results."
"I am not exaggerating when I say that Dr. Andrea Hui Austin is a LIFE CHANGER. I’ve been seeing her for almost two years now for treatment of my rosacea and acne and skin is clearer than it’s ever been, clearer than I ever hoped it would be. I first started seeing Dr. Austin in 2019, a few months after I turned 31. I’d been diagnosed with rosacea in middle school and had otherwise had fairly clear skin until I reached college. In college, I started breaking out more and more frequently until my acne was basically chronic. Some people in my family had late-bloomer acne, so I told myself it would probably just clear up as I got older, and I tried to take the best care of my skin that I could in the meantime. I tried every OTC treatment under the sun, went on different diets, and saw a series of dermatologists who put me on a range of topical medications and oral antibiotics. Nothing made much of a difference and by my late 20s I’d was so close to giving up and resigning myself to having bad skin for the rest of my life, although it made me feel miserable.That’s when I realized that the one thing I hadn’t tried was seeing a dermatologist who specializes in treating rosacea. I did some googling and Dr. Austin’s name came up again and again, so I scheduled a consult. My expectations weren’t high, given how little luck I’d had before. But Dr. Austin completely blew me away in the consult. Not only was she able to explain why my rosacea was causing these breakouts, but I was blown away by her empathy; she started the appointment by asking me to tell her about my history of rosacea and acne and after I went through the litany of things I’d tried she said, "I’m so sorry you had to go through that." It made me tear up to feel like someone cared and understood how much having bad skin can take a toll on self-esteem.She started me on a routine of oral medication and new topical skincare products, and did an excellent job of answering all my questions and explaining how each product or medication worked and why it was necessary. I noticed a difference in my skin within weeks, and once the breakouts were more under control we began a series of laser treatments to help tame the rosacea. As my skin continued to heal and improve, the treatments became less frequent, and I’m now at the point where I only have them a few times a year. My skin has healed enough that she’s also able to address the scarring I have from acne and, honestly, that’s a milestone I never thought I’d reach until I started working with her. She’s continued to be a thoughtful and kind person, celebrating the milestones with me as my skin healed, remembering details about my personal life, and engaging me in conversation during the treatments; I feel like she really cares.As a bonus, the whole BACD staff is competent, professional, and friendly. They keep things running smoothly, call/email back quickly, and have a very flexible auto-ship program that sends my topical products to me four times a year. BACD has done a sterling job of adapting to the pandemic--they’ve put up signage, spaced out appointments, created physical distance in the waiting room, and changed their payment process so you pay in the treatment room. I’ve noticed some other places get lax with these types of measures as the pandemic has gone on, but BACD has been incredibly consistent, which I appreciate.If you have rosacea and acne, Dr. Austin is your gal. She’s truly and completely changed my skin in a way I never thought possible. I highly, highly recommend her!(The photos I’ve included from her office are from before the acne scarring treatment; the personal photos I included are after one acne scarring treatment. No digital filters, no makeup or concealer in any of these photos!)"
"Dr. Austin has changed my life. My skin has significantly cleared up since I started seeing her, I RARELY get any pimples now and thanks to treatments like the Vbeam laser and TCA cross my scarring is very limited. All the staff and Dr. Austin are friendly and kind, it’s always a good experience going in. Dr. Austin remembers details about my life even when I don’t see her for months at a time. I recommend her to any of my friends who ask for skincare advice. My only complaint is that I didn’t start coming here sooner; I didn’t realize what a big difference having a dermatologist approved skincare routine would make!!"
"Dr. Steven Y. He is absolutely amazing! I have visited several dermatology offices around the country and Dr. He is the first to really make a difference and listen to my concerns no matter how big or small. If you have Rosacea (honestly any skin concern run to Dr. He!) I have had 3 vbeam laser treatments by him and always feel at ease under his care. I appreciate his vast knowledge, and attention to detail. I ask many questions and I never feel rushed. He takes his time and really cares about his patients. Just recently he even noticed a mole I had never noticed while he was doing treatments and cares not only about the cosmetic side of dermatology but the true health and safety of your skin. I notice a huge difference in my rosacea and can’t wait to continue more treatments under his care. He has a less is more approach, and patience which I appreciate. I decided to stay out of the sun since my late 20s when I finally stopped going to the tanning salon (!!!). I also decided rather late in life to finally take care of my skin.I *almost* didn’t want to write this review about Dr. He, fearful that he will get so busy I’ll have to book appointments with him at least a month in advance! Yes, I know that’s selfish of me but I am a little bit proprietary when it comes to good doctors - if I find a doctor who not only has an amazing and compassionate manner AND super knowledgeable in his/her field, I’m a patient for life. I originally went to Dr. He for filler. When I first met him, I couldn’t stop staring at his skin. I wanted my skin to look like his! He told me what he could do for me and not only did he end up educating me about different fillers but suggested different treatments I could get.Because Dr. He is such a good educator about skin, I have gotten various treatments for my rosacea and other issues and have been very happy with everything he suggested."

"I highly recommend Dr. Steven He. I have had melasma and Nevi of Ota from on my cheeks and temples for the past 15 years. I’ve tried treatments from other dermatologists, including hydroxychloroquine cream, with no improvement. I’ve also met with other laser treatment centers, who presented cookie cutter treatments. However, I’ve seen friends and family get rebound hyperpigmentation on their face from aggressive dose of laser therapy. For Asian skin, sometimes the dose of laser and strength of chemical peels have to be adjusted due to skin sensitivity. As an Asian female physician, I was cautious about who to trust. I chose Dr. He because I heard he has lots of experience with Asian American patients. I started seeing him a few months ago, and I am extremely confident in his skills. He is thoughtful about his approach and tailors his treatment plan to the individual patient. I have had 5 treatments, starting with chemical peels to remove superficial melasma, and now transitioned to laser treatments for the darker spots. The spots have significantly lightened. I recently saw my family, who had been hounding me for years about my spots, and they could not even notice the spots! I am extremely satisfied with Dr. He’s care. He is a knowledgeable, conscientious, effective physician."
"I cannot begin to express my satisfaction with Dr. Andrea Hui-Austin at Bay Area. Cosmetic Dermatology. During the first 3 months of covid I experienced hair loss. It was very drastic. I reached out to Dr Austin and she immediately put in a prescription at my local pharmacy. She advised about the medications and how they work. Within 2 weeks there was a change., which Dr Austin advised I would notice. My scalp wasn’t dry and I noticed growth starting. I just finished my last dose of the medication and can tell you the results is like night and day from the beginning . My hair has not only fully grown back in but it’s thicker as well and my scalp is not dry. You can see in the pictures how the it has filled in during the 3 month period. I’m so grateful to Dr. Austin, as many of you women know hair loss is very difficult and by Dr Austin reacting promptly it made a huge difference. She also followed up with me constantly. "During Covid, I had a visit yesterday with Dr. Kathleen Welsh and her nurse, Cynthia, for beauty injections as well as a process to remove the redness from roascia and broken blood vessel's in my face. My experience was wonderful. I was greeted by an assistant in a mask and facial shield at the door who took my temperature. I felt Covid safe in the patient room. All the assistance wore masks. Everybody who treated my face was wearing a mask and shield. My appointment time was honored and I was properly escorted to my patient room. Naturally, the results from my visit are beautiful! I also appreciate Cynthia's sound advice on products to use on my face, as she is very knowledgeable and goes into depth on my morning and evening facial routine. I trust Dr. Walsh with her advice regarding the products to use for my injections, and most importantly, I am extremely satisfied with the results.!!!"

I have seen countless Dermatologist from Stanford University to Dr. Obagi in Beverly Hills, none of them were able to help my melasma issue. Dr Austin looks out-of-the-box she’s smart, knowledgeable, self-confident and most importantly very experienced! She’s also a very kind beautiful lady who will listen to you and solve your problem. "I came to Dr. Austin because I had noticed I was experiencing hair loss and was concerned. She immediately got to work to isolate the problem and ordered a variety of tests to ensure we got an answer. "I found Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology via Yelp. I made my first appointment and had to wait for a month and a half to get in which was over a year ago. I had been to so many Dermatologists, Cosmetologists, clowns, rip offs you name it, this wait was so worth!! I had melasma due to my pregnancy, very bad acne scars. When I saw Dr Austin, I bombarded her with all my bad experiences and kept asking for a chemical peel, sounds so funny now:-) She brought me back to earth and came up with a plan and took her time to explain me about my issues first and then the steps of her plan. Within a few months, my melasma was almost gone. We are still working on my acne scars but they ve almost disappeared as well. Dr. Austin is the BEST dermatologist I have ever come across by far!! I have severe eczema and have tried everything after seeing multiple doctors (I moved from SF to LA last year). NOTHING has worked. The last physician asked me, "what do you want, nothing will cure it so let's just try another cream". Pretty much the consensus with all doctors -- nothing I can do about it!
It's incredibly depressing when people ask you what's on your face, your arms, your legs... my niece always refers to them as "boo-boos". And everyone has advice on how to cure eczema - let me tell you! I have tried every diet, all kinds of supplements, juicing... nothing worked. I have been walking around in LA weather wearing long sleeves all the time because I'm tired of hearing the questions.
On a whim, when I'm in SF, I call Dr. Welsh's office. I was desperate for help and the staff offered me to see Dr. He. I went in with low expectations since no other physician has been able to help me.
What I didn't realize is the absolute compassion that Dr. He and the staff showed me the moment I walked in the door. I cried as I told the assistant about my eczema. I continued to cry as Dr. He walked in and started talking to me. I'll never forget when he said, "Eczema is a disease, you were born with it, and you didn't cause this!" I told him that I was depressed because and felt bad about it because so many other people have worse problems. He said, "People with eczema suffer the same depression as people with serious diseases." He also told me, "I have something that can cure you." You can imagine my excitement.
However, the excitement didn't last long. The cost of the medication (Dupixent) was exorbitant -- 5K per month! We started talking about other treatment plans but Dr. He told me that he would find a way to get me this medicine. He gave me cortisone for the eczema flare-ups, creams and said he'd be in touch. And he certainly was. The same evening, he called and told me to come to the office in the morning and sign paperwork so that I could get Dupixent through a patient assistance program. We would try to make it work, he said.
The next morning, the paperwork was all filled out, and all I had to do was sign it. Dr. He spent even more time with me talking about how Dupixent works and said he would do everything to get the medicine for me. I left feeling hopeful. After speaking with the folks at Dupixent, I was, in fact, approved! My first shipment would arrive the following week and I could start the new medicine.
It's been over a month, and my skin has already vastly improved from Dupixent. Dr. He has checked in on me consistently to make sure I'm doing OK. I even had some slight reactions and we talked those through and he reassured me that everything was fine. I don't know any physician that would take the extra time and care that Dr. He has done for me.
Long story short -- go see Dr. He! Everyone at Dr. Welsh's office is amazing, but I highly recommend Dr. He, especially if you have a serious skin issue and need the care, compassion, and knowledge that he provides. To say he has gone above and beyond is an understatement. He's changed my life.

"Dr. Austin has worked wonders for my skin. I'm currently 26 years old and have suffered from acne since I was 12. In the pre-Dr.Austin days, my acne would flare up before my period, resulting in 2-4 painful bumps in the chin/cheek areas. It was never bad enough for me to try more serious treatments like Accutane, but the combination of active/healing acne with mild rosacea made me feel like I couldn't go out without several layers of foundation. As a teenager, I tried everything for my acne: salicylic acid spot treatments, benozyl peroxide cleansers, tea tree oil, and clindamycin peroxide (which worked amazingly well for a few weeks until it stopped working completely). In my adult life, I came to accept acne as a recurring monthly struggle, even though I continued to be insanely envious of other Asian women with effortlessly beautiful skin. Earlier this year, my acne suddenly got worse. Instead of annoying (but manageable) monthly spots, I experienced several large, painful cysts along my chin that stayed for weeks. My skin was so bad that makeup didn't help: foundation would flake off almost instantly. I decided to finally see a dermatologist...and luckily I found Dr. Austin! Dr. Austin put me on a treatment consisting primarily of spironolactone and tretinoin. She simplified my skin routine from 10 items to a manageable 4. I can't begin to describe how much my skin has improved. Both spironolactone and tretinoin take a while to kick-in, but after approximately 1 month into the new routine, I started to see dramatic results. No more breakouts, plus my skin texture has improved by so much - coworkers and friends have all commented on the glow! The new routine from Dr. Austin has seriously been a god-send. I wish I had discovered this routine back in high school; it would have saved me so many years of frustration and distress. "Where do I begin?! Dr. Andrea Austin is a talented dermatologist who is passionate about what she does. I have struggled with acne and severe redness since I was a teenager, and have seen many dermatologists. Dr. Austin immediately diagnosed rosacea, and put together a plan of action. For the past year, I have done a combination of VBeam laser, topical, and oral medication. The difference has been astounding. What I thought was straight hormonal acne was really rosacea related. My skin glows now, and I rarely wear make up. Now that my skin is under control, Dr. Austin has helped me take it to the next level, and we have started a regime of retin A, botox, and restalyne. "I can't believe it took me this long to write a review on Dr. Welsh and Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology. I have been a patient of Dr. Welsh's going on 10 years and I can't imagine seeing anyone else. When I first started going, the office was a lot smaller, but all the expanding hasn't changed the service I get there. Every time I see Dr. Welsh she is so kind and thoughtful, and she has really changed my life. I have had bad cystic acne since around 19, and she openly admitted I had one of the worst cases she had seen. It was painful and heartbreaking and I thought it was hopeless. In the many years I've been going to her, we have worked together until finally finding treatment that worked well, and I am so thankful. I go a few times a year for laser treatments and fillers for residual scarring (shout out to Nurse Mary who is probably the nicest person on the planet and an absolute wizard with lasers, and she genuinely cares about all of her clients). Dr. Welsh has always been considerate of my budget (I'm a nonprofit worker, while I know most of her clients are probably closer to the 1%) and has worked with me when my skin condition needed more for less. I am lucky to have found them so long ago and can't recommend them higher!"
"I've been treated with every rosecea treatment existing and evolving for a period of over thirty years. Anyone with this condition knows how persistent and difficult it can be to treat so I did a yelp search using the key word "rosacea" in hopes of finding yet another approach to managing - yelp.com/biz/andrea-hui-…. My search showed Dr. Andrea Hui Huston as having the highest number of positive reviews for rosacea treatment so that is why I chose her and why I am now writing this review. After only a few months of treatment, the changes in my skin have been remarkable. Not only has the red hue of my face diminished but the texture, smoothness and pore size has improved quite noticeably. In my case, Dr. Austin uses a combination of applications including a variety of topicals. I've always been distrustful of ointments and such that supposedly improve rosacea because they've never worked in the past but for me, these have been incredibly effective. The severity of flushing I've always had a problem with has reduced dramatically also which I believe in part is the result of an oral medication she prescribed. I am beyond pleased with the effectiveness of treatment I've received from Dr. Hui Austin. It's my hope that this review may help others find remedy to their problematic dermatological concerns."

"I'm 46 and have been planning on visiting a dermatologist for a few years to have an increasing number of broken veins and milia sorted. Dr Hui was recommended by a friend and I finally made time for an appointment. What a revelation. It transpired I have rosacea, not broken veins, and a combination of a monthly tablet and daily cream have basically cleared it up (this has also had the side benefit of reducing irritation I had in my eyes which is also caused by rosacea, so double win). I had eczema on my face in my 20's and have always been very wary of new skincare regimes after finding a handful of over the counter creams that didn't aggravate it. Dr Hui prescribed and provided samples of a proposed regime which within days cleared up some inflammations and made my skin look 10X better. I've now had 2x laser for light resurfacing and to sort a few veins that became visible when the rosacea cleared. It requires a few days working from home/weekend (I look a bit like a chipmunk for 4 days), but the impact on my skin texture and tone is incredible. I've dropped all but a touch of concealer (vs full foundation) and there is a noticeable improvement in small wrinkles as well. All in all, I wish I'd done this 10 years earlier!! Dr Hui has a fabulous manner, is super efficient, and works with your schedule in terms of treatments/what you can incorporate into your working life. I cannot recommend her too highly."

"I have struggled with severe acne for my whole life and have spent thousands of dollars on proactive, x-out, bioré, natural solutions like witch hazel, tea tree oil, etc. None of these products worked for me and some of them made my skin severely dry, red, or caused my hyper-pigmentation to be more noticeable. I was losing hope that I would ever have clear skin until I came across TCA peels (trichloroacetic acid) on youtube, I saw that there was a lot of positive reviews as well as horror stories , but I felt like I was out of options so I decided to set up a consultation at Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology, I didn't feel like my skin could get any worse so even if the skin peel didn't work, I felt that It was still worth the risk. When I first arrived, it was a 250 dollar fee for new patients and they looked at my skin and offered several products for a skin care regiment and they told me that my skin issues were caused because my body produced a little more testosterone then a normal woman. They prescribe me spironolactone to help prevent further extreme break outs and tranexamic acid to help with my hyper-pigmentation, after one month I noticed a severe decline in break outs. Before I was on these medications I was getting 5 - 10 new pimples every week plus back acne, after being on these medications it was like 1 or 2 every month. After getting my acne settled, we then started to work on my hyper pigmentation, I had expressed that I wanted a TCA peel but Dr.Austin told me that with my skin tone a TCA peel would be too extreme and might remove the melanin from my skin. I didn't want to ruin my skin tone but I also didn't want the dark spots, Dr.Austin then recommended that I get a less deep peel and we decided to go with either a lactic acid peel or a glycolic acid peel. When I received my first peel I noticed dramatic changes. I still had a lot hyper pigmentation but it was very different from before. I am now 7 peels in and I am very happy with my results! I wish I would have come here sooner, it would have saved me thousands in skin care products that didn't work for me. Each peel I received was 250$, and worth every penny. The pictures below show my current skin condition and what it looked like after my first 3 peels (sorry I only started taking pictures after the first 3!), I will also post what it looks like when its peeling, will update with more photos after this current peel is completely done. "From the moment I called explaining my urgency for an appointment to when I walked out of the doctor's office that same day, I was so incredibly pleased with the entire process. I called this morning a few minutes after they opened mentioning that a rather large cyst-like pimple popped up over night and that my sister's wedding was this weekend and I was desperate to get rid of it. The front desk staff (forgot her name, but the same gal who checked me out at the end) was so nice and accommodating and found a window where they could squeeze me in real quick and administer a cortisone shot THE SAME DAY. I had nurse Mary Krempa who was awesome, knowledgeable, cheerful and genuinely seemed like she wanted the entire process to go well so I would have nothing to worry about on my sister's wedding day. She administered the shot (took two seconds) and while she was describing the process afterwards, I asked her a quick question regarding the redness of the spot. She said that usually they would charge for this, but since I was a new patient and in quite the predicament, she would apply a quick laser to help reduce the redness and inflammation (also took two seconds). She then offered to have the makeup artist at the office help cover up the spot since I was heading straight back to work. Everyone was so nice and accommodating I almost couldn't believe it. "I started seeing Dr. Hui (now Austin) in August 2017. I was suffering from really bad acne that started suddenly and in my late 20s. She had me on a very easy regimen that I strictly followed. The acne definitely becomes worse before getting better. I broke out for 3 months, then it stopped suddenly. "I suffer from acne scarring quite significantly on my cheeks. When I went for my consultation, Dr Hui suggested subcision with micropen treatments & said I'd need 4-6. I was incredibly nervous for the first subcision treatment & Dr. Hui made me feel so comfortable and walked me through the process very slowly. Mary who does my micropen also did this, talking to me the entire time and making sure I was okay. I'm now on my 3rd treatment & can honestly say I am seeing an INCREDIBLE difference in the acne scarring. Dr. Hui also prescribed me tretinoin to use topically in between my treatments. I would say by this point I've tried everything on my skin and this is the one thing that has really, really helped me and I would truly recommend it to anyone with the same issues. "I went to Bay Area Dermatology because a few of the girls in my office recommend it. I had developed a really bad case of melasma on my cheeks and upper lip. When I made an appointment they had asked me if I had a preference as to who I wanted to see. I told the receptionist that I had Asian skin so if I could get someone that is familiar with treating common Asian skin issues that would be fantastic. I was scheduled an appointment with Dr. Hui.At my first meet with Dr. Hui she confirmed that I did indeed have melasma and that my next step was to start getting chemical peels 4-6 weeks apart. Wow. Holy smokes! So far I've received 3 chemical peels and the melasma is almost gone. It's at the point where I am able to cover it up with just foundation. Yippee! At my most recent appointment I received my first laser treatment with Mary. I had a 1pm appointment and was seen quickly to start the numbing process. Anything concerning the skin go to Dr. Hui - absolutely 1000% worth the investment.I first went to Dr. Hui due to a psoriasis flare up and I wanted to have a skin consultation since I am getting married. I had suffered from psoriasis for the last 10 years, visiting multiple dermatologists, with an itchy scalp, skin flakes constantly. Dr. Hui quickly identified that the reason I was not getting better is that I have psoriasis along with seborrheic dermatitis. She took the time to explain to me exactly what that meant, tips for avoiding flare-ups and prescribed a treatment plan that fits in with my lifestyle. At no point did I feel rushed and Dr. Hui took the time to answer all the questions I had. Fast forward 4 weeks later, I am completely cleared of all scaly patches and I am no longer reliant on using topical steroids daily for the first time in 10 years. "I can't say enough good things about Dr Welsh and Dr Huy. I have been seeing Dr Welsh for 20 years, since high school. She has saved my face a few times... Severe cystic acne, severe acne scarring all over my entire face, a dog attack that severely mangled my cheek... big stuff. Over the course of my life I have experienced that feeling of shame and insecurity because my face looked so messed up that I didn't want people to look at me. And every time, Dr Welsh put my face back together and then some. Which essentially gives you your life back, because you can face the world with confidence and really show up and be present in conversations, instead of tripping out over how how destroyed your face looks.Those are the extreme cases that Dr Welsh has helped me through. Always, she is compassionate, straight up, and comes up with a game plan and a timeline, and doesn't want to stop until whatever the issue is perfectly resolved. After trying several different things nothing was making a difference, in fact, some of the creams/lotions I tried made the rosacea worse! Basically, as a doctor myself, I can say that she is pretty much everything you could want in a doctor. Dr Hui prescribed a super simple regimen along with laser treatment. Although all of the products are helpful, I want to comment on their own clinic rosacea cream, which is uniquely incredible: it is gentler and more effective than any of the prescriptions that I'd tried. Within 2-4 weeks, I saw an improvement: the bumps were gone, the redness was minimal, and the scaling just disappeared. It's been 2.5 months, and my skin just keeps getting better and better. And I've even noticed that I'm getting my glow back. I know it's daunting to come to a dermatologist, and it can be expensive. This is worth it! I can't say enough about how grateful I am for what Dr Hui has done for me. I wish I had come in sooner."

"I visited Dr. Hui for my acne scars due to a life time acne problem. Before that I have been to many dermatologists back at home and in the Bay Area and she is the only one who has diagnosed my skin problem correctly. My face has always been reddish and flushing due to many factors and I thought that those redness was due to my acne scars. She told me I had rosacea, prescribed some amazing products and started applying fractional laser treatment once a month. Even in couple of weeks after I started the treatment, my face started looking totally different, more clear, more even, smoother and more beautiful. "Acne, acne scars, hyper-pigmentation, discoloration, Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatolgy is the place to go! I have been to numerous dermatologist and estheticians in multiple states and have spend upwards of $5,000 before coming to Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatolgy and seeing Dr. Andrea Hui. As soon as Dr. Hui came in the room she knew exactly what I needed to fix my skin. She and along with her awesome, very polite and super knowledgeable assistant, Ariana, will service your skin needs in an unparalleled manner. I am all about one thing, which is results. As mentioned above I have spent and have been to numerous dermatologist that have wasted so much of my time and money. Before meeting with Dr. Hui I used countless creams, injections, peels, facials, etc.,etc.! As a result of so many failed attempts at fixing my scars and pigmentation I started to research, which lead me to Dr. Hui. Meeting with Dr. Hui was unrushed, which encouraged me to fully explain my history, unlike other dermatologist that gives you less then five minutes to explain. I did not want any more creams or facials being that none of that worked, which I made clear to Dr. Hui who completely understood. After talking with Dr Hui we settled on a treatment program, which included the V-Beam, Juvederm Ultra Plus, CO2 laser and subcision, lighting pads and ONE Retin-A cream. This program was not to take place at once but over time as I see her monthly. To tell you the truth, you will need more then one V-Beam session, currently I am on my fifth and my face is clearer then ever before. The subcision was performed when Dr. Hui put in Juvederm Ultra Plus, which took place around the fourth V-Beam session. Subcision along with filler helps with the appearance of acne scars, which Dr. Hui performs painlessly and meticulously. The filler allowed my face to look fuller - NOT botched - just smoother from the trauma left behind from my acne. My lighting pads came after my 2nd visit with Dr. Hiu. She actually recommended the lightening pads as a more affordable solution to help with my brown pigmentation on my shoulder, chest and back so that I didn't have to spend more money on laser. I was very pleased with this idea because I was expecting to spend upwards of $1,400 before Dr. Hui recommended a more reasonable, thoughtful solution. All in all, the prices are NOT expensive and if you want your skin to look great, see Dr. Hui. Not everyone is the same but if you have a skin issues, you will most likely need some sort of IPL laser, which is exactly what Dr Hui specializes in. I have lived in Minnesota and Colorado and the prices are the same as the dermatologist in both land locked states. People say the prices are expensive because cosmetic dermatology as a industry is expensive. "Dr. Andrea Hui is an absolute miracle worker! I came to Dr. Hui extremely frustrated and defeated because my skin was the worst it has ever been - I had acne all over my chin and cheeks and red scars everywhere. Prior to coming to Dr. Hui, I tried everything to get rid of my acne including different dermatologists, several elimination diets and too many harsh skin care products that wouldn't clear up my skin but would just dry it out. I was referred to Dr. Hui by a friend who had been seeing her for a while and had completely cleared up her skin.I was extremely reassured after my first appointment with Dr. Hui as she was confident that she could help clear up my skin and I completely trusted her because I had seen her results on other people. "Dr Welsh has been my favorite dermatologist for over 20 years - I'm pretty sure she is the reason I don't have skin cancer from my careless youth ;) She (and her staff) always make me feel good when I am there and I get great results w everything I've tried (including fillers). Dr Welsh knows my style (she knows I don't want to look "over done") and gives (on request) great advice for what I really need (instead of what I thought I needed) often saving me $$. "I have battled back acne for over 30 years and over that time have seen different dermatologists, have been prescribed oral antibiotics such as erythromycin and doxycycline, have had 3 rounds of Accutane in the late '90's, early 2000's, and tried different prescription creams. Despite all of these efforts, acne and scarring have continued to persist. So after receiving a product sample at a school fundraiser, and looking at their site, I figured I would try yet another approach. After an initial consultation with Dr. Hui 2 months ago and buying many expensive but effective skin products, I started to see a significant improvement in the acne...finally! "Before I started seeing Dr. Hui and Dr. Welsh, I had very oily skin, frequent breakouts and a fair amount of redness and blemishes. I wore cover-up often and carried oil-absorbing sheets with me everywhere. Although I didn't have "severe acne," I was not satisfied with the appearance of my skin, and wished that I didn't need to manage it so much. At Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology, I have had laser and resurfacing treatments with Dr. Hui, Mary, Claire and Mabel (who are amazing to work with!) and have seen pretty dramatic results in evening my skin complexion and texture, and getting rid of red blemishes. "Dr. Hui completely transformed my skin and I cannot recommend her more highly! I have had rosacea for more than 20 years. In that time I have seen countless dermatologists (including some of the "best" in NYC and SF) and experimented with dozens of skincare products and prescriptions. The results have always been minimal and often made my face even redder and more irritated. This led to a general skepticism of dermatologists and feeling that the rosacea was just something I would have to live with. "I've suffered with severe cystic acne since high school. Prior to seeing Dr. Andrea Hui, I have seen 3 different dermatologists who have prescribed a round of antibiotics and topical medication. "Dr. Hui has been a godsend for my rosacea-prone, inflamed, acne-scarred skin that is highly sensitized to pretty much everything. I thought I'd tried every product out there for very sensitive skin (OTC as well as seeing other dermatologists), and had pretty much resigned myself to having to wear makeup every time I left the house so my face didn't look like a splotchy mess. But then I read great reviews about the practice and decided to see Dr. Hui, and my skin has been transformed. I told her my goal was to wear zero makeup, and we've been steadily progressing towards that goal with great results. She made me discard my overly complicated skincare routine and get back to basics. My skincare routine now takes 30 seconds in the morning and 2 minutes at night, and my skin looks so much better in every way. I've been using the products Dr. Hui recommended that have made a huge difference, and have also been getting V-beam laser treatments that have also been significant in getting rid of the diffuse redness throughout my face. My skincare routine is so much more basic than before (no more time-consuming multiple serums and many face masks), but more effective by leaps and bounds. I've also gotten facial hair removal done by Dr. Hui and have seen great results with that. Also wanted to give a big shout out to Mary, one of the nurses at the practice. "I've been hesitant to write my review for Dr. Hui and Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology for some time now, not because my experience has been anything less than "five-star worthy" but, out of concern that my words - or writing ability, will fail to appropriately articulate just how wonderful my overall experience as a patient here has been. Nevertheless, here it goes...!I want to say, first, that making the decision to schedule my initial visit (around November 2015) with Dr. Hui at Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology has proved to be one of the most rewarding decisions I've ever made. I urge anyone who is, or has, suffered from acne (or any dermatological conditions) to make an appointment with Dr. Hui and Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology. The results of my acne-free face, smaller pores, and diminishing facial scars (I would say "acne scars" but Dr. Hui also helped minimize a scar I have on my face, from an old ski accident, that left me with 15 stitches right next to my eye) have superseded my expectations. I'm a female in my mid-twenties and I have struggled with acne for well-over half of my life. I experienced my first round of Accutane before entering High School (in 2005), after becoming consumed with acne along my face, back and chest; I experienced my second round of Accutane before graduating from college (in 2013); I began experiencing hormonal acne post-college (in 2015). Each of my bouts with Acne have certainty had, both, a physical and mental effect on me. During my first appointment with Dr. Hui, I recall feeling a sense of shame or embarrassment as I divulged the relatively aggressive lengths I had gone, in the past, to combat my acne. I felt certain that after so much treatment, with so much input from so many doctors, Dr. Hui would render clear skin, for me, as hopeless. Dr. Hui quickly put me at ease, though, as she assured me that experiencing cystic hormonal acne, as a mid-twenties female, is extremely common - regardless of the time I spent on Accutane. She assured me that my situation was not unique and wrote up a comprehensive and thorough AM/PM routine for me. My AM/PM routine and product-usage has changed, slightly, but Dr. Hui and her medical assistant always explains and discusses any of these changes (and the reasoning behind it) during your appointments. I'm so curious what my skin would look like, today, if I had discovered Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology years ago -- but I'll take the way it's starting to look today!"
"I have struggled with acne and acne scarring since sophomore year of high school (I am now 20). No matter what I tried and who I saw I just couldn't get my acne under control. My skin only worsened when I went off to college. I was so insecure about my skin that I would try to avoid going out in the sunlight or in bright lighting. I even tried to stop looking at myself in mirrors because it made me so self conscious. My skin was affecting my social life and desire to see people in a negative way and was a constant source of stress and anxiety (which only made my acne worse). That is, until I began working with Dr. Hui in the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of college. In the year since meeting Dr. Hui my acne and scarring has improved dramatically. I am now more confident and excited about going out and seeing people.Dr. Hui started me on a very low dose of Accutane and a nighttime retin-a. Her goal was to clear up the acne first and then work on the scarring underneath. When the acne began to clear up, Dr. Hui started doing V-Beam lasers on my scarring. This reduced the red spots on my skin that I had had for years. Before the V-Beam I couldn't remember the last time that I looked at my face and it wasn't a red, blotchy mess. Last week Dr. Hui performed a Fraxel laser on my skin to even out the texture and alleviate more of the scarring. While it has only been a week since the procedure, the results are very noticeable. My skin is much smoother and has less marks from scarring and will only continue to improve over time (according to Dr. Hui). This is the best my skin has looked since starting high school and it is all thanks to Dr. Hui and her MAs Mabel, Chrissy, Isabel, and Euridice. I am now going back to school for the spring quarter with a newfound confidence in my skin. I will continue on the low dose of the Accutane and the nighttime retin-a and hopefully my skin will clear up more every day.In addition to the actual work that she did on my skin, Dr. Hui and Mabel, Chrissy, Isabel, and Euridice were incredibly warm and accommodating. Dr. Hui and her MAs always spent time explaining every detail of my skin regiment to me and answering any questions that I had (no matter how ridiculous). "Dr. Hui is a miracle worker! I had been on BenzaClin, Differin, and oral antibiotics for almost a decade without much success. Right after my 24th birthday, my skin was worse than ever. "I am compelled to write another review on Dr. Hui because I am just so amazed with her talent. She is an exceptional dermatologist. I first saw her in Sept. 2014 to clear up my skin for my up-coming wedding. Not only did she clear up my skin super fast but she transformed my skin entirely. At my initial visit I was just desperate for clear skin but this miracle doctor gave me much more than clear skin; she gave me healthy, glowing skin, which was not something I ever thought I could have. Once I achieved totally clear and radiant skin and since I trust her completely, I began to experiment with filler. Love the results. I am continually impressed by both Dr Welsh and Dr Hui for their ability to listen to my needs and desires without judgement, address cosmetic issues artfully, and manage medical issues with great knowledge and expertise. Their ability to integrate both the art and science of dermatology is truly exceptional. Our entire family has been treated by the practice. My children for extreme acne and stubborn allergic skin reactions, my husband with his sensitive Asian skin for his sun spots and I have had multiple moles skillfully removed and biopsied, Ulthera, botox, fillers and even repaired earlobes, (torn from heavy earnings). Coming from a family of physicians, I have learned the importance of quality of care and true medical expertise. We have all been impressed by their responsiveness, depth of knowledge, attention to detail and overall quality of care. "So practically overnight, I developed a bright red and very itchy scalp, neck and decollate. My skin was totally inflamed for seemingly no reason. Over a year and a half, I consulted 4 dermatologists in two states seeking a solution and an answer to what caused this. Between these doctors I had a scalp biopsy taken (needed a stitch), was given 3 topical creams, several oral meds, and even a peanut oil based solution to wear on my head, under a plastic cap - overnight for 2 weeks! Talk about annoying and messy. As a new San Franciscan, I made an appointment with Dr Hui for my annual skin check and asked her to take a look. She thought I was either allergic to hair dye or nail polish (allergic contact dermatitis). I was somewhat skeptical about the polish being the cause, I mean after all, how could polish on my nails affect my head? So instead I visited my hair salon to have a glob of hair dye put on my arm, under a bandage, for 48 hours. Thankfully, there was no reaction! So thinking that Dr Hui knows her stuff, I removed the polish on both my fingers and toes. The next day I had no irritation or redness. What a relief and what a simple solution - that no other physician had thought of! Thank you Dr Hui!"
"My daughter has had a rough road with acne. She has seen approximately 4 different dermatologists since the age of 13 and hadminimal success with her treatments. After going away to college, she thought her skin just may get better as she entered adulthood,unfortunately, the opposite occurred and she developed severe hormonal cystic acne, so detrimental, it affected her daily life and she soonwas not going out to functions to avoid "being seen" and slipping into a bit of a depression. Being a RN in the city, I had heard wonderful things about Dr Hui, so when she washome from college, we booked apt asap. fast forward........almost 6 months later, after specific medications, special topical treatments and laser treatments, my daughter's skin looks AMAZING and she is so happy! "I started to see Dra. Andrea Hui in the end of May (2015), because I had the most crazy acne during the whole semester, due to stress, and as I am not from United States it took me a while until I get to the clinic. I had some facials done in other places along the semester, but they weren't helpful at all, the acne just kept getting worst. When I finally got to see Dra. Hui was when everything started to change, she is an amazing person and really understands what your skin needs. As I am very anxious I firstly scheduled a consult to know more about the Fraxel laser, but she told me how we first needed to control the acne before treating the scars. The process is not easy and it can get very bad until it starts to get better, but you have to trust Dra. Hui and her assistant, Euridice because it is all part of the process. There is no shortcuts and you have to follow the routine and commit to the treatment, and they are the best people to help you get through it, not only because of their knowledge but because they are also very caring people. The first three months were the hardest for me, but from the fourth to the fifth things started to get really good, the breakouts were almost non-existent, and my skin texture was completely changed. I had a lot of redness from inflammation so before doing the Fraxel we did a couple of V Beam laser sections, and they were amazing, after the first one I didn't see a huge change, but after the second and the third I was very impressed. For me the worst part of having acne is that it makes you feel very bad to be in your own skin, and how the coverage that makeup gives still doesn't actually help to make you feel better. And I really like how Dra. Hui understands that, I really recommend her, she is very correct and professional, so you can trust her completely, she knows the steps and the right moment to do the different treatments that your skin might need. Some tips I would give is to schedule your consult in a day and time you will probably leave the clinic and go home, it is easier to do the procedures in days you don't need to be anywhere afterwards. And mostly if you have problems with acne get it treated with a great professional such as Dra. Hui and her staff, because there are so many products and false promises out there, and to have the guidance of someone who actually knows what she is doing is the only way to have real and lasting improvement."
"Dr. Welsh is an exceptional dermatologist. She will go the extra mile and think out of the box to help with stubborn and complicated skin problems. Apparently she does a lot of beauty treatments but don't let this fool you. She is exceptionally well-trained. She is a board certified internist as well as a dermatologist. I have several skin conditions and they complicate each other. I saw other dermatologists at Stanford and other Bay Area locations who over at least a one year period (more like 2 years) did not help me get my condition under control at all. I was suffering to the point of wondering if life was worthwhile. I did see Dr. Anhalt in Los Altos and he did figure things out and try some off label treatments which got me halfway under control. Dr. Welsh knowing I had been struggling with this condition for a few years and the quality of my life was so low was not afraid to prescribe Accutane which basically gave me my life back. Don't get me wrong she of course knows there is risk associated with this drug like all drugs. We did try a few other things including doing laser first before using the Accutane at a lower dose than usual. My problems were not small and the decision was not light and I have never looked back. I did laser with her in San Francisco because she had the particular equipment I heard would work best for my particular condition. Kathleen Welsh MD uses V Beam for rosacea! I had been wanting to try Accutane and laser both for rosacea and it was pretty much a miracle so I would recommend it for rosacea.I have had laser hair removal in her office as well. Yvonne is extremely professional and caring and I would highly recommend her as well."
"I've never had any acne issues until about a year ago when i started breaking out. I went to Kaiser and different dermatologists and no treatment regimen seem to work. I was so depressed and desperate for a solution to my troubling problem, then i stumbled upon Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology through their glowing yelp reviews. I started seeing Dr. Hui since May 2015. She is clearly very knowledgeable and knows how to share that in a nice & gentle way. I didn't feel rushed, she takes her time to teach you and let you know what's realistically possible based on a variety of factors. "First, I saw Dr. Hui about my acne. Homerun. I suffered from crazy acne my whole life because I have polycystic ovary syndrome. I'm a skincare therapist, and trust me I've tried pretty much everything to clear my acne. But it was literally so stubborn that I gave up. when it did start to clear up, I was able for the first time to imagine my skin break out free, you could say I was a little more than impressed. Because of Dr. Hui, my acne is cleared. Whoo hoo!I just wanted to update my review to talk about my last appointment, which was filler by Dr. Hui- Restylane Silk to be exact. DANG! I'm half Sicilian and part Cherokee Indian. One of the dominating hereditary traits in my Sicilian side is the dark, saggy, under eye area. On the Native American side, high cheekbones angle no way that kind of Pinterest things at the center of my face. It basically causes most people on the Indian side of my family to have deep lines on either side of our nose and mouth. Have literally had these lines and saggies since I was a little girl. If I can find a picture of seven-year-old saggy eyed me I will post it! But I always just dealt with it. It's life. We are who we are, eat some Cheerios and deal with it. But oh wait, enter Dr. Hui!As you can see from my photos a little bit of help goes a VERRRY long way. She expertly filled the portion that was sallow, results are awesome. She is the best! I went to another doctor in the city for some under eye filling, and he literally said that it's too risky, lumps are too much of a risk, and that he didn't want to be responsible for messing up my eyes. After that I was pretty scared to hit of anyone else for filler. Casually chatting about it, because Dr. Hui and I chat about pretty much everything, she was genuinely upset when I mentioned I was told there's nothing that can be done to help the saggyness. She asked for a chance to show me differently, and since I trust her and had nothing but pretty much perfect results up into this point, I said why not let's go for it. If it gets messed up and lumpy like that first doctor suggested I have a lot of Cheerios at home to drown my sorrows in. Well, it's been made abundantly clear to me that all dermatologists are not created equally and that if you think an expert is expensive, you'll probably change your mind when you consult an amateur. She's the real deal you guys. I honestly think she might be the best. The lighting in the room in my before pictures are a little yellow but there is NO editing or filters on either of the photos. I was introduced to Dr Welsh by a product rep friend (it's part of her job to know everybody in the industry) as a wonderful person and excellent doctor. I have always been glad of every visit!
In response to another reviewer: a couple of times a few years ago I had waits of up to a half hour, but I always just guessed my doctor was giving someone else the precise meticulous care that she gives me. (There were a few prior visits that Dr Welsh spent extra time burning off my way-too-many pre-cancer spots; apologies if your wait was my fault!). Lately, I'm in and out before I can read a single magazine article.
Recently I tried her cleansing pads while camping - who knew you could get refreshed glowing skin w/out water? I'm one of those people who breaks out if I miss cleansing morning or night, so these are little gems.

"Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology has a very important asset and that's Dr. Hui!For almost a decade, I have suffered from terrible cystic acne that covered my cheeks, temples and jawline. Worse than the acne was the scarring that was left behind. The more years that went by, the more layers of make up went on.However, the day that I realized I had put on three shades of foundation just to look like me, I knew it was time to see a dermatologist. Lucky for me, I found the right one. When I met Dr. Hui, my skin was truly at its lowest point. Furthermore, I was really nervous for someone to actually see me without make up. Dr. Hui was amazing. She talked to me about my skincare routine at the time (which was pretty much nonexistent), the type of acne I had, and the various routes we could take to tackle it. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of detail and the amount of time she devoted to working with me. Judging from the appearance and location of the acne, she was quick to diagnose me as having hormonal acne and started me on the mildest prescriptions. What really impressed me was that Dr. Hui took the time to put together a typed "acne treatment plan" which spelled out my new skincare routine from beginning to end, clearly defining how to use each product (prescription and non prescription) correctly and in the proper sequence. We went over it together to make sure I was clear on the instructions. As someone with little exposure to any skincare routine at the time, this paper was one of the best tools I could have been given. I followed every last detail of her treatment plan. Month one..my acne was still there. Month three... it was GONE. The improvement was drastic. Not only had my acne completely subsided but the scarring had greatly diminished. Now, months later, I can happily say that I rarely wear any make up and I have Dr. Hui to thank for that! "My first visit to Dr. Welsh was in the early 2000s for adult acne, a condition which had plagued me since childhood. I received excellent results. Now as I reach my later 30s, acne has become a thing of the past, yet I have a new issue: Aging facial skin. While I'm lucky that the byproduct of the former acne condition keeps my skin more naturally moisturized than others my age, I still am noticing subtle wrinkles around my eyes and furrowed smile lines. I've been very pleased with the outcomes of the various creams and non-invasive procedures she has recommended. The doctor and her staff always give me (a dude) a great comfort level whenever I arrive at their otherwise girly-ish offices (i.e. half of the waiting room area contains a Bloomingdale-sized cosmetic counter). "I have been in to see Dr. Welsh three times and been thrilled each time with the result and/or prescription. I have been to other dermatologists and these ladies "get it" better than most. The first time I went in to inquire about how to improve the look of my aging skin and they started me on retnoids-which have been a game-changer. Women in their 30s and 40s shouldn't have to battle acne and wrinkles at the same time! I have been using them for three years now and could not be happier with the result. I went back in to have a light peel done to try and remove some melasma on my forehead and chin from years of sun abuse (I now wear sunscreen religiously, but had a misspent youth in tanning beds...). I also received some other in office treatments that did not disappoint. Dr. Welsh saw me for two of those appointments and her very capable staff saw to my needs the third time. I plan to make an appointment to return to see Dr. Welsh and her friendly and competent staff as I prepare for my upcoming wedding this summer to make sure I look my best. Reasonable pricing for this area and realistic results are what I expect and what these ladies have delivered each time I have been in. Highly recommend!!!"
"I started coming here last April to get v-beam on my face for rosacea and redness. I was looking for a place that could do it in the south bay but could not find any places that could do it or that I would want to go to. When I called to make an appointment the girl at the front desk was very helpful and explained to me what it was and pricing. She said she had done it as well. She told me exactly where to park and where the office was... very helpful if you are not from the city. When I came in to my first appointment Dr Welsh came into the room took a look at my face and gave me some recommendations and said the v-beam was an excellent option for me. Yvonne was the nurse who performed the laser on me and she is great and explains everything and answers all my questions. I could not be happier with my results and will keep going to her office and Yvonne even though its in the city and I am in the south bay. I finally found something that works after spending tons of money on things that have not worked and will always trust their opinion. Reading reviews people have complained that her office has long wait times and a crowded waiting room but i have never dealt with anything than the average wait time when you go to a doctor, dentist, etc.. I would be more concerned if there wasnt anyone there."

"Dr. Welsh is my go-to dermatologist, as well as my mother's. Totally would recommend her for injections of any sort or if you have some serious acne issues. She is honest and very knowledgeable, and didn't overcharge me in comparison to another well known dermatologist in the Peninsula for a basic procedure. I trust her entirely with my skin/face and would recommend her to anyone. My only negative feedback is wait times in her office can be quite lengthy, so make sure to over feed your meeter just in case!"

"I have been to Dr. Welsh approximately five times for rosacea treatments (V Beam laser) and a few precancerous spots on my face and decolletage over the past couple of years. She did a great job and I found her to be very knowledgable and professional. She does schedule patients in tightly, one does have to wait (it's usually about a half hour), and she doesn't take insurance (though they'll mail the form in for you), however, she is an excellent dermatologist so it's worth it to me. On occasion, she has done a little extra for me and not charged me.I've been to several high-end dermatologists in Beverly Hills over the years including the Head of Dermatology at UCLA (before I moved to the Bay Area) and find Dr. Welsh to be an excellent dermatologist, friendly with no "attitude." I am not a wealthy person (far from it), however, when it comes to my skin, I like the best.Though Dr. Welsh has informed me of the various treatments she has available for aging skin (I'm middle aged), she only did so because I asked and she hasn't "pushed" any treatments or products on me. The products are expensive but they work great (so my friend says) - just not in my budget at this point.I found her staff to be very friendly and efficient. Someone commented that all her staff look "done," and I suppose one could take that viewpoint but they also have virtually flawless skin. That's their choice but the Doctor doesn't push this "look" on her patients, however, if you want flawless skin, Dr. Welsh knows how to achieve it. Finally, because it's a bit of a drive for me and I have health challenges, Dr. Welsh even gave me a recommendation for a doctor close to me to take care of a precancerous spot on my chest - so I would say that Dr. Welsh puts her patients care in the forefront. Her services are expensive, however, I would prefer to have a doctor who really knows what they are doing then have mistakes made that one has to spend even more money correcting, and I particularly do not want mistakes made on my face. BTW, I am not affiliated with Dr. Welsh in any way, merely a happy patient - in fact, I went to her based on her Yelp reviews."
""Dr Kathy rules", my friend (who had seen her before) texted me now, after hearing how my appointment went with her today. I am going back to Dr Welsh because of my adult cystic acne. If you read my old review, you can see Accutane did work for me for .. I would say around a year, then it came back, and lately it has flare-ups that I just can't deal with anymore. After googling everything under the sun I came upon articles about another drug, Spironolactone, that is sometimes used for women with my condition. I have heard from 2 acquaintances that it works really well for them, and I just wanted to try it SO badly. I had been to other dermatologists who, because I did not have an acne flare up at that moment, did not take me very seriously. (Now i take photos of it when it's bad, just in case I need the proof.)Dr Welsh is the only doctor who has taken my skin issues seriously and been extremely helpful and kind about it. She explains the different options and doesn't treat me like a "second class citizen" because I don't have insurance or bags of money like I imagine some of the clients going for .. I don't know, Botox or other more cosmetic issues go for. (I'm always afraid that will happen in any medical practice.) She asked me why I hadn't been there sooner and I sort of implied I thought there wasn't much i could do, she was so sweet and said that there is always something we can do. Her staff is also very polite .. . and they have immaculate skin! i hope to treat myself to something that will help my scars after we get a handle on my acne issue."

I've had a couple of spots removed and certainly felt that there was professionalism and attentiveness, and I am glad I didn't have anything develop into a problem that was harder to cure. I've also had IPL done by both Katie and Jane. Again, very professional, but also friendly. I was impressed by the amount of information I was given to insure that I knew the risks of what I was doing, as well as what my skin reactions would be and after-care. I've been VERY pleased with the results. I love this office. I have found all of the people there to be extremely friendly and attentive- I'm not sure why all the negative comments about the staff. I've been going for over 5 years. Maybe you should forget emailing and just lift up the phone, that doesn't seem to be a good method of communication with them. After spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora and other stores to try to improve my skin with no success, I finally decided to see a doctor. I chose Doctor Welsh because of her great resume and location. So far, I am very glad I did. (Note: I have only seen Doctor Welsh twice now over a span of two months, which I guess is still pretty early to see results, so keep in mind that this review is based less on results and more on my experience with her office.)I don't have insurance that covers dermatology right now, so I had to pay out-of-pocket for both visits. But I was willing to do anything to save my skin. (In any event, I guess the way Dr. Welsh's office deals with insurance would require me to pay out-of-pocket anyway.) I told Dr. Welsh about my financial concerns during my first appointment, and she was incredibly understanding. She made every effort to recommend products and treatments to keep my costs down, at least until my job starts and I can afford to do more. My first time in her office she waived the $150 visit fee and just charged me for the in-office treatment I received. Amazing!Dr. Welsh is a busy woman, so do not expect to have a long drawn-out visit with her. But she could not have been more understanding, proactive, and kind during the conversations I had with her. Also, her knowledgeable staff more than make up for the limited time with Dr. Welsh herself. I COMPLETELY disagree with the reviews that say that the staff is unfriendly. On both of my visits, an assistant patiently answered each of my questions and took the time to make sure I understood my new facial regimen. Several times I have called the office to ask questions about my treatments, and each time an extremely nice, bubbly assistant answered the phone who patiently and knowledgeably answered all of my questions right on the spot -- no charge and no wait!I hope my results are as good as my experience with the office has been. I trust Dr. Welsh and definitely would recommend her to anyone seeking expert help with their skin needs."
"The Best Dermatologist - I have been going to Dr. Welsh for five years now and find that she's a godsend. I have rosacea and she has improved the skin on my face 100% - you would never know I had the condition. She's very caring and compassionate, and fun! I would not hesitate to make an appointment with her. Sometimes, her office is so jammed that you have to wait a long time. I find that very frustrating and believe it could be better managed. However, I find her worth the wait."

"I'm reserving judgment. I was peeved that after being 15 minutes early, I had to wait 25 minutes past my appointment time to see the doctor. Looking past the 1 hour of my life I'd have rather manifested as sleep than waiting, Dr. Welsh was quite hurried, and I didn't feel the $150-with-no-insurance-coverage I spent for the 15 minute consultation was worth it. I really just wanted simple product recommendations, like soap and sunscreen, and instead was shunted towards expensive drugs, peels, and lasers.I originally wrote a scathing review, but I'm revising now because it's not Dr. Welsh's fault that I had high expectations. I was hoping she was different that other dermatologists, with keen insights into the products that could work *with* me. Instead, I was jolted by the scrape-burn-zap mentality which, in retrospect, defines western medicine. So it's not her fault that I was hoping she would empathize with my more gentle approach and accommodate it. As it turns out, another dermatologist recommended the same treatment that Dr. Welsh had recommended to me, and it worked. I think I was so irritated by the long wait to meet Dr. Welsh that I wasn't ready to hear anything she had to say, and her hurried delivery didn't help. All this being said, though, she was correct, and on top of that, her staff has been quite supportive and helpful during followups, providing exactly the product recommendations I wanted. So I now trust them for various products, which are summing up to be a whole lot more than that initial consultation.--- revision 8/7/11I'm now changing my review to 5 stars. I'm now a complete convert to the ministry of Dr. Welsh. I have gone from horrible acne that Accutane could barely control to gorgeous glowing skin even my Asian relatives fawn over (with Latisse-enhanced eyelashes). It's also refreshing to go to someone trustworthy and say, hey, I don't like this unevenness in my skin (yes- now that the color is fresh and even, now I want to perfect the texture!) and she knows the latest in getting it addressed. She also has the latest products that I buy for friends as gifts and all of them buy more when they've finished. I can't recommend Dr. Welsh more. It's expensive, but it's worth it. I don't even wear makeup anymore to go out! Literally just some Sumbody chapstick and that's *it*."
"I have melasma. Or should I say HAD! My bff recommended Dr. Welsh as she had this HUGE grey thing growing in her dermis some years ago and Welsh magic-wanded it. I am getting ready for my wedding and nada I have tried over the last few years has helped. I have done just about eerything you can do without a prescription. I'd gotten to the point of hating the mirror just because of my skin. That was a new experience for me because my entire life I was able to avoid skin problems. Never had issues, even in my teen years. Anyway, now tables turned and my skin had become horrendous - the dark mask was getting worse by the day it seemed. I thought laser was next so I went to see Dr. Welsh. She told me the real deal - laser wouldn't help (at least not permanently) melasma, especially as mine was hereditary. She put me on Obaji Nu Derm and in 4 weeks my life has changed. I mean REALLY. The spots have almost completely cleared up and my skin is even better than before. So happy with the correct assessment of my skin that I am also going back to Dr. Welsh's group for laser hair removal. So happy when something really works and someone really really knows their stuff. "I have a strongly emotional, very high opinion of Dr. Welsh. If I had gone to her ten years earlier, I would have such better skin now. I had moderate but persistent acne my entire life and saw a million dermatologists. They all did strange ice treatments, gave me Retin-A and sent me on my way - all to absolutely no avail, except that I got dry red skin still populated with blemishes. Then I started getting mega pimples at age 30, just months before my wedding. Enter Dr. Welsh. By the time of my wedding, I had perfect skin, and my skin is still pretty much acne-free more than two years later. "after years of trying to find a good dermatologist in san francisco, i finally have. dr. welsh knows what she's doing. the first thing she asked me was if i used birth control and what type was it. i quickly learned that was causing probably 70-80 percent of my recent bad skin, ie acne. i couldn't believe it. less than a year before i saw one of the city's most well known dermatologists, he even treats the stars, and he NEVER asked me once about the pill. i always thought all birth control was good for the skin. turns out the nuva ring causes acne in many patients. dr. welsh was also quick to point out that my cute little freckles of which i have sooooo many were actually sun spots and recommended a few products for me to use to clear those up to even out my skin tone. after three weeks of a red face, they are finally working and i am happy about it. my skin is on it's way to looking better than it has in years. i asked her about a chemical peel and she gave me a firm no. i like a doctor that is going to be honest with me and not give me a procedure i don't need. and not to mention everyone in her office has great skin and is very nice and knows what they are talking about. looking forward to my next visit."
