"I’ve been a patient at BACD for over 5 years. Beautiful facility, with a kind and professional treatment team.Dr. Austin is one of the best doctors in California- and certainly the best the of the Bay Area. I’ve been treated for skin issues that other doctors cannot properly diagnose or treat. But Dr. Austin has phenomenal knowledge of skin, women’s health, and treatments for those that are multi-ethnic. (Like myself!) Most of all she educates the patient on how to care for their body and skin for the best long term effects. This includes having amazing products to treat the skin. "I have been battling cystic acne for years now and having minimal success from the various treatments suggested by various providers. My sister advised me to see Dr. Austin who when out of her way to spend extra time with me and really educate me about the wholistic issue. "I am so thankful to the BACD team and doctors. My 2024 update is that after miraculous treatment from Dr. Austin, with the latest medicine and technology my skin conditions are essentially 100% cured. (They will need a lifetime of maintenance on my end.) My keloid scars are completely healed and that is really unheard of at other medical practices. I also had rosacea which has also 100% improved. Part of the treatment is learning how to care for and maintain your skin, health, and body.Special thanks to Nurse Ari, who is gentle and kind and makes patients feel cared for and their needs seen. When I have worked with Nurse Ari, my treatments have been relatively painless and my healing time was extremely quick. "I've tried so many skin care products to address my acne, scars, and texture over the years and nothing worked. Then I went to a "medical spa" to treat my skin issues, which was a big mistake because most med spas just hire sales reps who are not medically trained or certified. They burned my face badly, did not know how to fix it, and told me to try products that made the condition even worse. That was when I decided to consult a dermatologist for a second opinion and was so lucky I found Dr. Austin at BACD!During the initial consultation, Dr. Austin explained what was causing my skin problems, came up with a treatment plan, and answered all of my questions. She's an expert in her field with extensive medical knowledge about how skin reacts to multiple factors such as lifestyle choices or other medical conditions, and I trust that she's considering everything holistically whenever she recommends a treatment. So much so that I considered giving up the sports and activities that I love so much. But Dr. Austin has transformed my skin. I noticed the difference almost immediately. I’ve been getting a lot of compliments on how my skin looks great and that I look years younger. Even my male friends are noticing. "Dr. Austin and the wonderful team at BACD changed my life. I have always had eczema, but it was manageable. During the pandemic, I had a severe flare that covered my whole body and was so painful. She listened to my concerns and really educated me on proper skin care. Since then she has continued to help provide new products/recommendations based on my needs at that time. I have also been seeing her for filler and botox treatments for the past two years. She has always listened to what I wanted and given me incredible results. She keeps things natural and really has an amazing eye for the face and facial structure. Beyond her work, she is a really incredible doctor. "This review is long overdue! Dr. Austin is incredible at treating rosacea!! Dr. Austin has been life changing for me and my skin. I found her online from searching frantically for someone for years in the Bay who had experience working with rosacea. Rosacea started for me in my early 30s, what felt like out of no where during grad school. After trying many other things, including strictly cutting out foods that were irritating I was still having intense rosacea breakouts. Dr. Austin took pictures, explained what was happening and we went over my skin routine. I learned how there are different types of rosacea, she explained what can irritate it (which can include natural oils!) and then she gave me a very specific skin care routine with products. I saw results almost immediately after using sticking to the topical routine. I recently saw her after 3 years of sticking to my regimen and my skin has greatly improved. I flare maybe a few times a year with stress but it will usually go away that day with combo ointment meant for rosacea. I have even seen lines on my forehead go away with one of the topicals, an added bonus! She is also very encouraging, has a warm bedside manner. If you have been dealing with skin issues and the confidence behind that look no further, Dr. Austin is worth it!"

I've been seeing dermatologists since I was 12 years old because of acne and I've also moved around the US and Europe. Dr. Hui Austin is honestly a miracle worker. She is always kind and empathetic and I would not entrust my skin to anyone else with some of the procedures I've undergone to "refresh" myself. This clinic specializes in full service patient care. Meaning your medical issue will be addressed as well as the problem that may be causing it. "I came to Dr. Austin because I had noticed I was experiencing hair loss and was concerned. She immediately got to work to isolate the problem and ordered a variety of tests to ensure we got an answer. "I found Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology via Yelp. I made my first appointment and had to wait for a month and a half to get in which was over a year ago. I had been to so many Dermatologists, Cosmetologists, clowns, rip offs you name it, this wait was so worth!! I had melasma due to my pregnancy, very bad acne scars. When I saw Dr Austin, I bombarded her with all my bad experiences and kept asking for a chemical peel, sounds so funny now:-) She brought me back to earth and came up with a plan and took her time to explain me about my issues first and then the steps of her plan. "Dr. Austin has worked wonders for my skin. I'm currently 26 years old and have suffered from acne since I was 12. In the pre-Dr.Austin days, my acne would flare up before my period, resulting in 2-4 painful bumps in the chin/cheek areas. It was never bad enough for me to try more serious treatments like Accutane, but the combination of active/healing acne with mild rosacea made me feel like I couldn't go out without several layers of foundation. As a teenager, I tried everything for my acne: salicylic acid spot treatments, benozyl peroxide cleansers, tea tree oil, and clindamycin peroxide (which worked amazingly well for a few weeks until it stopped working completely). In my adult life, I came to accept acne as a recurring monthly struggle, even though I continued to be insanely envious of other Asian women with effortlessly beautiful skin. Earlier this year, my acne suddenly got worse. Instead of annoying (but manageable) monthly spots, I experienced several large, painful cysts along my chin that stayed for weeks. My skin was so bad that makeup didn't help: foundation would flake off almost instantly. I decided to finally see a dermatologist...and luckily I found Dr. Austin! Dr. Austin put me on a treatment consisting primarily of spironolactone and tretinoin. She simplified my skin routine from 10 items to a manageable 4. I can't begin to describe how much my skin has improved. Both spironolactone and tretinoin take a while to kick-in, but after approximately 1 month into the new routine, I started to see dramatic results. "Dr. Austin is a freaking magician. I came in to see her for the Melasma I developed on my face due to high doses of estrogen/hormones I had to take from egg freezing / IVF treatments. I've been trying to treat this for years (oxygen treatments, laser treatments, supplements, vitamins, expensive creams/serums, diet) with no long-term results. It all changed when I saw Dr. Austin, and on top of putting my Melasma into remission, my skin condition improved dramatically, and randomly some post surgical scars faded due to the medication. Before my skin was prone to getting blocked pores, but now now it's silky smooth. I don't remember the skin on my face looking this good. What I like about Dr. Austin most is she is research fiend and knowledgable about everything to do with skin - she's tested every treatment/product/medication combo possible and has found one that works. "Dr Austin is the absolute best! She transformed my skin! I started seeing her a little under a year ago for stubborn and persistent acne and melasma, as well as scarring from years of cystic acne. On the first visit, she promised me she could get my skin clear and completely rid me of the dreaded melasma. I was a bit skeptical (I'd seen 3 other dermatologists for the melasma and nothing I had tried thus far made any difference). She got me on a regimen of chemical peels, medication and topicals and I'm SO happy to report that my skin is clear! "This review is long overdue. If I could give Dr. Austin 1000 stars, I would. I went to see Dr. Austin for my stubborn, life long problem skin, which started at age 11 with cystic acne, and morphed into constant hives, adult acne and rosacea subtype 2, and 4 in my early 30s. I had been seen by countless doctors about my skin including 4 different, highly rated SF dermatologists before Dr. Austin to try to treat my rosacea/acne/hives, including the UCSF autoimmune dermatology clinic. I had been prescribed creams, done lasers and changed my diet, but nothing made any difference at all. On my first visit, Dr. Austin assured me she was 100% confident she would cure my rosacea and fix my skin. CURE. That's a pretty big word in the medical community, and I admit I was skeptical. She prescribed me a few creams, some pills to take, and we did two laser treatments. The results speak for themselves. 6 months later, I'm off the Rx pills and creams, and am now just maintaining the beautiful results. Dr Hui was recommended by a friend and I finally made time for an appointment. What a revelation. It transpired I have rosacea, not broken veins, and a combination of a monthly tablet and daily cream have basically cleared it up (this has also had the side benefit of reducing irritation I had in my eyes which is also caused by rosacea, so double win). I had eczema on my face in my 20's and have always been very wary of new skincare regimes after finding a handful of over the counter creams that didn't aggravate it. Dr Hui prescribed and provided samples of a proposed regime which within days cleared up some inflammations and made my skin look 10X better. I've now had 2x laser for light resurfacing and to sort a few veins that became visible when the rosacea cleared. It requires a few days working from home/weekend (I look a bit like a chipmunk for 4 days), but the impact on my skin texture and tone is incredible. I've dropped all but a touch of concealer (vs full foundation) and there is a noticeable improvement in small wrinkles as well. All in all, I wish I'd done this 10 years earlier!! "I started seeing Dr. Hui (now Austin) in June 2018. So far, I’m very satisfied with the result. I suffered from acne as a teenager which lead to many scars on my face. I have tried so many different treatments including dermabrasion, CO2 laser, chemical peels, photo facial, micro-needling, etc. in the past 20 years to improve the large pores and scars. However, some of the treatments made my skin even worse than before and also left more scars on my face. My skin became extremely sensitive and was prone to scarring after break out. The micro-needling helps to improve some shallower scars but not the deep ice pick scars. I was so discouraged but I don’t want to live with scars for the rest of my life. I’m so lucky that found Dr. Hui. She outlined a treatment plan for me. She recommended some skin care products, Laser Genesis and TCA Cross. At first, I was skeptical but I wanted to give it a last try. At the consultation appointment, Dr. Hui performed the TCA Cross on 5 test spots. She did not charge me extra for the test spots other than the consultation fee. So far, I had 2 treatments of Laser Genesis and TCA Cross. I’ve been following her face regimen and using all the products she recommended. I still need to do a few more sessions but I can see a great improvement in my skin. Most of the scars that have been crossed are much shallower and smaller than before. There are a few ice pick scars have completely filled in. I couldn’t believe it because those scars were on my face for 20+ years. TCA cross has shown me the most improvement on my scars of anything I have done before. The patches on my skin are gone and my skin is much firmer. I will confine this treatment until all my scars are filled in. Please keep in mind that the scars may look worse when the scars first fall off but they will continue to fill in and heal over time. The process can take from 2-6 months after the treatment. Please be patience. Dr. Hui and NP Mary are amazing. I highly recommend Dr. Hui for those who are suffering from acne scars."

"I have struggled with severe acne for my whole life and have spent thousands of dollars on proactive, x-out, bioré, natural solutions like witch hazel, tea tree oil, etc. None of these products worked for me and some of them made my skin severely dry, red, or caused my hyper-pigmentation to be more noticeable. I didn't want to ruin my skin tone but I also didn't want the dark spots, Dr.Austin then recommended that I get a less deep peel and we decided to go with either a lactic acid peel or a glycolic acid peel. I told the receptionist that I had Asian skin so if I could get someone that is familiar with treating common Asian skin issues that would be fantastic. I was scheduled an appointment with Dr. Hui.At my first meet with Dr. Hui she confirmed that I did indeed have melasma and that my next step was to start getting chemical peels 4-6 weeks apart. Wow. Holy smokes! So far I've received 3 chemical peels and the melasma is almost gone. It's at the point where I am able to cover it up with just foundation. Yippee! At my most recent appointment I received my first laser treatment with Mary. I had a 1pm appointment and was seen quickly to start the numbing process. "My husband began PRP hair treatments here, he's had two sessions so far and is due for his third. We are both happy with the results and how well the Dr. and her assistants take care of us. "Eternally grateful to have found Dr. Hui - I have battled back acne for over 30 years and over that time have seen different dermatologists, have been prescribed oral antibiotics such as erythromycin and doxycycline, have had 3 rounds of Accutane in the late '90's, early 2000's, and tried different prescription creams. I first went to Dr. Hui due to a psoriasis flare up and I wanted to have a skin consultation since I am getting married. I had suffered from psoriasis for the last 10 years, visiting multiple dermatologists, with an itchy scalp, skin flakes constantly. Dr. Hui quickly identified that the reason I was not getting better is that I have psoriasis along with seborrheic dermatitis. She took the time to explain to me exactly what that meant, tips for avoiding flare-ups and prescribed a treatment plan that fits in with my lifestyle. At no point did I feel rushed and Dr. Hui took the time to answer all the questions I had. "I can't say enough good things about Dr Welsh and Dr Huy. I have been seeing Dr Welsh for 20 years, since high school. She has saved my face a few times... Severe cystic acne, severe acne scarring all over my entire face, a dog attack that severely mangled my cheek... big stuff. Over the course of my life I have experienced that feeling of shame and insecurity because my face looked so messed up that I didn't want people to look at me. "I visited Dr. Hui for my acne scars due to a life time acne problem. Before that I have been to many dermatologists back at home and in the Bay Area and she is the only one who has diagnosed my skin problem correctly. My face has always been reddish and flushing due to many factors and I thought that those redness was due to my acne scars. I have been to numerous dermatologist and estheticians in multiple states and have spend upwards of $5,000 before coming to Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatolgy and seeing Dr. Andrea Hui. As soon as Dr. Hui came in the room she knew exactly what I needed to fix my skin. She and along with her awesome, very polite and super knowledgeable assistant, Ariana, will service your skin needs in an unparalleled manner. I am all about one thing, which is results. As mentioned above I have spent and have been to numerous dermatologist that have wasted so much of my time and money. Before meeting with Dr. Hui I used countless creams, injections, peels, facials, etc.,etc.! As a result of so many failed attempts at fixing my scars and pigmentation I started to research, which lead me to Dr. Hui. Meeting with Dr. Hui was unrushed, which encouraged me to fully explain my history, unlike other dermatologist that gives you less then five minutes to explain. I did not want any more creams or facials being that none of that worked, which I made clear to Dr. Hui who completely understood. "Acne, acne scars, hyper-pigmentation, discoloration, Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatolgy is the place to go! I have been to numerous dermatologist and estheticians in multiple states and have spend upwards of $5,000 before coming to Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatolgy and seeing Dr. Andrea Hui. As soon as Dr. Hui came in the room she knew exactly what I needed to fix my skin. She and along with her awesome, very polite and super knowledgeable assistant, Ariana, will service your skin needs in an unparalleled manner. I am all about one thing, which is results. As mentioned above I have spent and have been to numerous dermatologist that have wasted so much of my time and money. Before meeting with Dr. Hui I used countless creams, injections, peels, facials, etc.,etc.! As a result of so many failed attempts at fixing my scars and pigmentation I started to research, which lead me to Dr. Hui. Meeting with Dr. Hui was unrushed, which encouraged me to fully explain my history, unlike other dermatologist that gives you less then five minutes to explain. I did not want any more creams or facials being that none of that worked, which I made clear to Dr. Hui who completely understood. After talking with Dr Hui we settled on a treatment program, which included the V-Beam, Juvederm Ultra Plus, CO2 laser and subcision, lighting pads and ONE Retin-A cream. This program was not to take place at once but over time as I see her monthly. To tell you the truth, you will need more then one V-Beam session, currently I am on my fifth and my face is clearer then ever before. The subcision was performed when Dr. Hui put in Juvederm Ultra Plus, which took place around the fourth V-Beam session. Subcision along with filler helps with the appearance of acne scars, which Dr. Hui performs painlessly and meticulously. The filler allowed my face to look fuller - NOT botched - just smoother from the trauma left behind from my acne. My lighting pads came after my 2nd visit with Dr. Hiu. She actually recommended the lightening pads as a more affordable solution to help with my brown pigmentation on my shoulder, chest and back so that I didn't have to spend more money on laser. I was very pleased with this idea because I was expecting to spend upwards of $1,400 before Dr. Hui recommended a more reasonable, thoughtful solution. All in all, the prices are NOT expensive and if you want your skin to look great, see Dr. Hui. Not everyone is the same but if you have a skin issues, you will most likely need some sort of IPL laser, which is exactly what Dr Hui specializes in. I have lived in Minnesota and Colorado and the prices are the same as the dermatologist in both land locked states. People say the prices are expensive because cosmetic dermatology as a industry is expensive. If you have any skin issues and would like to finally have them addressed, please visit Dr. Hui and her wonder staff. She is beautiful in and out and will get you the results you need."

"I have battled back acne for over 30 years and over that time have seen different dermatologists, have been prescribed oral antibiotics such as erythromycin and doxycycline, have had 3 rounds of Accutane in the late '90's, early 2000's, and tried different prescription creams. Despite all of these efforts, acne and scarring have continued to persist. So after receiving a product sample at a school fundraiser, and looking at their site, I figured I would try yet another approach. After an initial consultation with Dr. Hui 2 months ago and buying many expensive but effective skin products, I started to see a significant improvement in the acne...finally! "Before I started seeing Dr. Hui and Dr. Welsh, I had very oily skin, frequent breakouts and a fair amount of redness and blemishes. I wore cover-up often and carried oil-absorbing sheets with me everywhere. Although I didn't have "severe acne," I was not satisfied with the appearance of my skin, and wished that I didn't need to manage it so much. At Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology, I have had laser and resurfacing treatments with Dr. Hui, Mary, Claire and Mabel (who are amazing to work with!) and have seen pretty dramatic results in evening my skin complexion and texture, and getting rid of red blemishes. "Dr. Hui is phenomenal! I came in thinking that I had a very bad case of acne, Dr. Hui properly diagnosed and cured my rosacea. I had large bumps and redness on my cheeks. She gave me topical treatments, vitamins, and vbeam treatments. I was hesitant about the vbeam but Dr. Hui took the time to explain the treatment and I'm so glad we went forward with it! I moved to San Francisco earlier this year and was in need of a new dermatologist and I am so happy to have found Dr. Hui! She listens closely to my questions and concerns each time I see her and goes out of her way to make sure I am comfortable during my procedures. I went to see Dr. Hui for the first time for Botox a February. This is a procedure I've had done several times before elsewhere. First of all, the Botox looked amazing! My doctor said that I would see great improvement if I did the Fraxel Repair. I did it and spend a boat load of money-- for really no results. "Dr. Hui has been a godsend for my rosacea-prone, inflamed, acne-scarred skin that is highly sensitized to pretty much everything. I thought I'd tried every product out there for very sensitive skin (OTC as well as seeing other dermatologists), and had pretty much resigned myself to having to wear makeup every time I left the house so my face didn't look like a splotchy mess. But then I read great reviews about the practice and decided to see Dr. Hui, and my skin has been transformed. I told her my goal was to wear zero makeup, and we've been steadily progressing towards that goal with great results. She made me discard my overly complicated skincare routine and get back to basics. My skincare routine now takes 30 seconds in the morning and 2 minutes at night, and my skin looks so much better in every way. I've been using the products Dr. Hui recommended that have made a huge difference, and have also been getting V-beam laser treatments that have also been significant in getting rid of the diffuse redness throughout my face. My skincare routine is so much more basic than before (no more time-consuming multiple serums and many face masks), but more effective by leaps and bounds. I've also gotten facial hair removal done by Dr. Hui and have seen great results with that. Also wanted to give a big shout out to Mary, one of the nurses at the practice. In many cases, her suggestions are not what you might intend, but better and more effective. She is truly at the top of her field in cosmetic dermatology. Each of my bouts with Acne have certainty had, both, a physical and mental effect on me. During my first appointment with Dr. Hui, I recall feeling a sense of shame or embarrassment as I divulged the relatively aggressive lengths I had gone, in the past, to combat my acne. I felt certain that after so much treatment, with so much input from so many doctors, Dr. Hui would render clear skin, for me, as hopeless. Dr. Hui quickly put me at ease, though, as she assured me that experiencing cystic hormonal acne, as a mid-twenties female, is extremely common - regardless of the time I spent on Accutane. She assured me that my situation was not unique and wrote up a comprehensive and thorough AM/PM routine for me. During my first appointment with Dr. Hui, I recall feeling a sense of shame or embarrassment as I divulged the relatively aggressive lengths I had gone, in the past, to combat my acne. "Dr. Andrea Hui is the best! I have seen numerous dermatologists in Atlanta and in the bay area prior to making an appointment with Dr.Hui. I had an extreme case of back acne that started after the birth of my second child. I've been prescribed everything from topical and oral antibiotics to creams and nothing has worked. I first saw her in Sept. 2014 to clear up my skin for my up-coming wedding. Not only did she clear up my skin super fast but she transformed my skin entirely. At my initial visit I was just desperate for clear skin but this miracle doctor gave me much more than clear skin; she gave me healthy, glowing skin, which was not something I ever thought I could have. Once I achieved totally clear and radiant skin and since I trust her completely, I began to experiment with filler. Love the results. I recently went back to get filler in my lips and am totally happy. "So practically overnight, I developed a bright red and very itchy scalp, neck and decollate. My skin was totally inflamed for seemingly no reason. Over a year and a half, I consulted 4 dermatologists in two states seeking a solution and an answer to what caused this. Between these doctors I had a scalp biopsy taken (needed a stitch), was given 3 topical creams, several oral meds, and even a peanut oil based solution to wear on my head, under a plastic cap - overnight for 2 weeks! Talk about annoying and messy. As a new San Franciscan, I made an appointment with Dr Hui for my annual skin check and asked her to take a look. She thought I was either allergic to hair dye or nail polish (allergic contact dermatitis). I was somewhat skeptical about the polish being the cause, I mean after all, how could polish on my nails affect my head? So instead I visited my hair salon to have a glob of hair dye put on my arm, under a bandage, for 48 hours. Thankfully, there was no reaction! "I started to see Dra. Andrea Hui in the end of May (2015), because I had the most crazy acne during the whole semester, due to stress, and as I am not from United States it took me a while until I get to the clinic. I had some facials done in other places along the semester, but they weren't helpful at all, the acne just kept getting worst. When I finally got to see Dra. Hui was when everything started to change, she is an amazing person and really understands what your skin needs. As I am very anxious I firstly scheduled a consult to know more about the Fraxel laser, but she told me how we first needed to control the acne before treating the scars. The process is not easy and it can get very bad until it starts to get better, but you have to trust Dra. Hui and her assistant, Euridice because it is all part of the process. There is no shortcuts and you have to follow the routine and commit to the treatment, and they are the best people to help you get through it, not only because of their knowledge but because they are also very caring people. The first three months were the hardest for me, but from the fourth to the fifth things started to get really good, the breakouts were almost non-existent, and my skin texture was completely changed. I had a lot of redness from inflammation so before doing the Fraxel we did a couple of V Beam laser sections, and they were amazing, after the first one I didn't see a huge change, but after the second and the third I was very impressed. For me the worst part of having acne is that it makes you feel very bad to be in your own skin, and how the coverage that makeup gives still doesn't actually help to make you feel better. And I really like how Dra. Hui understands that, I really recommend her, she is very correct and professional, so you can trust her completely, she knows the steps and the right moment to do the different treatments that your skin might need. Some tips I would give is to schedule your consult in a day and time you will probably leave the clinic and go home, it is easier to do the procedures in days you don't need to be anywhere afterwards. "Doing Me - Botox, Belotero, & VBeam for Variety of Concerns - San Francisco, CA - It's been a few months since I was summarily broken up with by my former partner of 14 years and right before Valentine's was in an emotional place to focus on ME. I had noticed over the last year that my rosacea was getting worse and the under-eye area was getting noticeably "deeper" and not as full as it once was. In addition, having been raised in the sun, I have had a history of skin cancer (basal & squamous) and wanted to find a Dermatologist who could address the medical & my cosmetic needs. After asking friends who they recommend for a Dermatologist, I made an appointment with Dr. Hui. I could not be more pleased. I've seen Dr. Hui twice and I'm thrilled with my skin elasticity, glow, lift, lightness, and overall appearance! The great part is that I don't look "pulled back" or "plastic" or radically different in any way. I look like me and no one has said to me that I look like I've had "work done." The comments that I've had from friends and family is that I look like I'm glowing and no one knows what I've done! My first visit in February with Dr. Hui was to address the areas on my forehead and eye area with Botox. I had zero bruising and it didn't hurt! I expected the injections to hurt from what I had seen on tv but it didn't! I also had Belotero to fill in the deep recesses of my under eye area and immediately I saw the difference! For more 'intensive' procedures like laser, Dr. Hui and the lovely Medical Assistants do their utmost to minimize any discomfort with icepacks, numbing cream, and prednisone. I've had no bruising or discomfort from any of the procedures I've undergone. While there were needles involved with the Botox and Belotero, I didn't feel any pain whatsoever which really surprised me because I bruise very easily. On my second visit, Dr. Hui addressed my pre-cancerous spots, removed a number of skin tags, and I under went the VBeam laser treatment to my entire face to address the redness due to rosacea. Dr. Hui once again was very upfront about the procedure, costs, why she recommended the VBeam, and made sure that I was very comfortable and numb before the laser treatment. The laser treatment went actually faster than I thought it would and she did my entire face and it didn't hurt as much as I was expecting it to. What I appreciate about Dr. Hui is that she is a genuinely caring person and is passionate about her work which comes through. Dr. Hui isn't just a 'pusher' of products which I presume could be 'easy' for a Dermatologist. Dr. Hui takes you, your face, and issues/concerns into consideration and doesn't want to 'fix what's broken'. I have more treatments planned to address the redness of my skin and she'll continue to monitor my pre-cancerous spots and I look forward to seeing her again. "In short, Dr. Andrea Hui is amazing at what she does. I had suffered from acne for about 9 years, starting at the age of 14. Despite all the acne regimens, diet changes, home remedies and exercise, I could never achieve clear skin. I then reached a point where I just gave up. I had acne from my temples down to my chin and both cheeks. Worst of all, my skin scars so all marks just stay and darken and it would take layers of make up to cover it up (when I came to see Dr. Hui, I was using liquid AND powder foundation in conjunction with concealer to cover the scars-- that's how bad it was). At the same time, I was hesitant to see a dermatologist because I didn't want to be prescribed Accutane like everyone else (those side effects - no thank you). By random chance, I met Dr. Andrea Hui. The first thing I told Dr. Hui was "I give up on my skin, you can try." But Dr. Hui took one look at my skin and said, "We're going to clear it up, you just have a slight hormonal problem." From there, I was put on a retinoid cream, spironolactone, aczone gel and a temporary antibiotic. She also advised on best cleanser and moisturizer/sunscreen to use. All this was typed up for me on my "acne treatment plan" so there was no confusion on what I should be doing. I followed it to the last detail. The first month was a little tough as my skin continued to break out. However, by months 2 and 3, I saw DRASTIC improvement. Significantly less acne, scars lightening. I've just completed month 3 and I have had no breakouts for weeks. I'm half Sicilian and part Cherokee Indian. One of the dominating hereditary traits in my Sicilian side is the dark, saggy, under eye area. On the Native American side, high cheekbones angle no way that kind of Pinterest things at the center of my face. It basically causes most people on the Indian side of my family to have deep lines on either side of our nose and mouth. Have literally had these lines and saggies since I was a little girl. If I can find a picture of seven-year-old saggy eyed me I will post it! But I always just dealt with it. It's life. We are who we are, eat some Cheerios and deal with it. But oh wait, enter Dr. Hui!As you can see from my photos a little bit of help goes a VERRRY long way. She expertly filled the portion that was sallow, results are awesome. She is the best! Casually chatting about it, because Dr. Hui and I chat about pretty much everything, she was genuinely upset when I mentioned I was told there's nothing that can be done to help the saggyness. If it gets messed up and lumpy like that first doctor suggested I have a lot of Cheerios at home to drown my sorrows in. "Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology has a very important asset and that's Dr. Hui!For almost a decade, I have suffered from terrible cystic acne that covered my cheeks, temples and jawline. Worse than the acne was the scarring that was left behind. The more years that went by, the more layers of make up went on.However, the day that I realized I had put on three shades of foundation just to look like me, I knew it was time to see a dermatologist. Lucky for me, I found the right one. When I met Dr. Hui, my skin was truly at its lowest point. Furthermore, I was really nervous for someone to actually see me without make up. Dr. Hui was amazing. She talked to me about my skincare routine at the time (which was pretty much nonexistent), the type of acne I had, and the various routes we could take to tackle it. I was pleasantly surprised by the level of detail and the amount of time she devoted to working with me. Judging from the appearance and location of the acne, she was quick to diagnose me as having hormonal acne and started me on the mildest prescriptions. What really impressed me was that Dr. Hui took the time to put together a typed "acne treatment plan" which spelled out my new skincare routine from beginning to end, clearly defining how to use each product (prescription and non prescription) correctly and in the proper sequence. We went over it together to make sure I was clear on the instructions. As someone with little exposure to any skincare routine at the time, this paper was one of the best tools I could have been given. I followed every last detail of her treatment plan. Month one..my acne was still there. Month three... it was GONE. The improvement was drastic. Not only had my acne completely subsided but the scarring had greatly diminished. Now, months later, I can happily say that I rarely wear any make up and I have Dr. Hui to thank for that! She is patient, professional and deeply committed to making her patients look and feel more confident in their skin. I truly cannot recommend her enough... she is wonderful doctor!"

Worse than the acne was the scarring that was left behind. "23 Years Old, Acne and Scarring - Brooklyn, NY - In short, Dr. Andrea Hui is amazing at what she does. I had suffered from acne for about 9 years, starting at the age of 14. Despite all the acne regimens, diet changes, home remedies and exercise, I could never achieve clear skin. I then reached a point where I just gave up. I had acne from my temples down to my chin and both cheeks. Worst of all, my skin scars so all marks just stay and darken and it would take layers of make up to cover it up (when I came to see Dr. Hui, I was using liquid AND powder foundation in conjunction with concealer to cover the scars-- that's how bad it was). At the same time, I was hesitant to see a dermatologist because I didn't want to be prescribed Accutane like everyone else (those side effects - no thank you). By random chance, I met Dr. Andrea Hui. The first thing I told Dr. Hui was "I give up on my skin, you can try." But Dr. Hui took one look at my skin and said, "We're going to clear it up, you just have a slight hormonal problem." From there, I was put on a retinoid cream, spironolactone, aczone gel and a temporary antibiotic. She also advised on best cleanser and moisturizer/sunscreen to use. All this was typed up for me on my "acne treatment plan" so there was no confusion on what I should be doing. I followed it to the last detail. The first month was a little tough as my skin continued to break out. However, by months 2 and 3, I saw DRASTIC improvement. Significantly less acne, scars lightening. I've just completed month 3 and I have had no breakouts for weeks. In fact, the scars are so much lighter, I barely wear any make up at all (if I even decide to wear make-up that day)!It feels amazing to go outside with a bare face for the first time in 9 years without feeling self-conscious and I have Dr. Hui to thank for that!
