"I am so thankful to the BACD team and doctors. My 2024 update is that after miraculous treatment from Dr. Austin, with the latest medicine and technology my skin conditions are essentially 100% cured. (They will need a lifetime of maintenance on my end.) My keloid scars are completely healed and that is really unheard of at other medical practices. I also had rosacea which has also 100% improved. Part of the treatment is learning how to care for and maintain your skin, health, and body.Special thanks to Nurse Ari, who is gentle and kind and makes patients feel cared for and their needs seen. "Had a great experience with Dr. Austin! She clarified where my product regimen was lacking, prescribed a medication to mitigate this dry patch that always shows up in the same spot on my chin. "Dr. Austin is, without a doubt, the most talented doctor I've ever had the pleasure of consulting. Her knowledge extends far beyond traditional dermatology - in her words, it's her job "to not just know about the skin, but everything going on underneath it." If you're looking for someone who truly cares, look no further. I bounced through dermatologists and medspas for decades, until I found Dr. Austin seven years ago. I came to her with the goal of "feeling confident without makeup." She's helped me achieve that, and so much more. I now live outside of the Bay Area, and drive a couple hours each way to see her. Totally worth it. I'd take a cross-country flight to see her (and you should, too). She's constantly reading new research papers, and gathering more information for her ever-expanding arsenal. She's done extensive research specifically to support my needs better - as she does for every single client. She's more informed than any doctor I've ever been to, and I seek out her opinion on every medical issue I face. Her work IS the cutting edge of medicine. My dandruff is gone. My keratosis pilaris is gone. My eczema is gone. My dark circles are gone, and my hair is thick again. My dry skin is finally manageable, after decades of struggle. I can go foundation-free if I want. My botox and fillers are flawless and understated, and my face is beautifully symmetrical. I'm aging gracefully (and look much younger than my peers, thanks to her!). I genuinely trust her advice more than the advice of my friends and family, and wish I had found her sooner. She's encouraged me to pursue the diagnosis and treatment of multiple autoimmune conditions that were affecting my whole-body health, including Hashimoto's, POTS, and Ehlers-Danlos syndrome. Where some doctors lack in understanding, she excels. She's suggested more effective workouts, simple routine changes, and medical-grade products that have saved me thousands of dollars. At this point, I give her a budget and let her do whatever she wants. She carefully respects my financial constraints, and addresses my needs without judgement. Her office isn't cheap, but I find that every single treatment is far more effective than any other office I've been to. The lasers available at her office are some of the most advanced in the country. She administers injectables artfully, and does more with less. Everything is heavily based in science - and it really, really works. I have no doubt that Dr. Austin will continue to receive well-deserved accolades and recognition. I know I'm seeing one of the best dermatologists in the world, and I am so grateful. I can't sing her praises enough. "Wow! Dr. Austin is a magician. I have melasma, and it has been getting a lot worse over the years because I love the outdoors. My skin was getting very blotchy from the sun and the heat. So much so that I considered giving up the sports and activities that I love so much. But Dr. Austin has transformed my skin. I noticed the difference almost immediately. "Dr Austin took my decent mid-50's skin and flagging self-esteem and made them really, really great. She flawlessly filled old acne scars, removed pre-cancer bits and rosacea, smoothed wrinkles, snatched up my jawline and explained how anatomy and biochem work during my visits. She's made a long-term plan for me and all her patients that seem like the minimum of highly effective things, so we all look startlingly better but still believable and healthy. I recently went in for a Sofwave treatment administered by Stacey Baenen, who is a fantastic practitioner, both in terms of skill and "bedside manner". She always puts me at ease and gives great advice. Dr. Austin also popped in for a few minutes to say hello and offer some advice - she always goes the extra mile, which shows how invested she is in her patients. "I have been seeing Dr. Austin for 4 years now. I initially saw her when I was experiencing some difficult to treat acne in my early 20s. She listened to my concerns and really educated me on proper skin care. Since then she has continued to help provide new products/recommendations based on my needs at that time. I have also been seeing her for filler and botox treatments for the past two years. She has always listened to what I wanted and given me incredible results. She keeps things natural and really has an amazing eye for the face and facial structure. Beyond her work, she is a really incredible doctor. "This review is long overdue! Dr. Austin is incredible at treating rosacea!! Dr. Austin has been life changing for me and my skin. I found her online from searching frantically for someone for years in the Bay who had experience working with rosacea. Rosacea started for me in my early 30s, what felt like out of no where during grad school. After trying many other things, including strictly cutting out foods that were irritating I was still having intense rosacea breakouts. Dr. Austin took pictures, explained what was happening and we went over my skin routine. I learned how there are different types of rosacea, she explained what can irritate it (which can include natural oils!) and then she gave me a very specific skin care routine with products. I saw results almost immediately after using sticking to the topical routine. I recently saw her after 3 years of sticking to my regimen and my skin has greatly improved. I flare maybe a few times a year with stress but it will usually go away that day with combo ointment meant for rosacea. I have even seen lines on my forehead go away with one of the topicals, an added bonus! She is also very encouraging, has a warm bedside manner. If you have been dealing with skin issues and the confidence behind that look no further, Dr. Austin is worth it!"

"Dr. Andrea Austin removed some severe sun spots using an alexandrite laser treatment. I was advised to expect up to three treatments to remove all the damage, but the first application yielded such dramatic results, I did not need any additional ones. After the initial application, I looked like I had chicken pox, but after the scabs healed, my skin looked radiant! I would definitely trust Dr. Austin. She understands Asian skin (she is Asian herself) and is very experienced. KZF"
"Dr. Austin and team have worked with me on my rosacea and severe keloid scarring for several years. These are skin and body issues that other doctors cannot and will not treat. This clinic specializes in full service patient care. Meaning your medical issue will be addressed as well as the problem that may be causing it. And they work towards restorative care after the treatment. I wouldn’t go anywhere else for my skin needs. If you need basic, cosmetic, or restorative skin care - this is where you need to be! I am leaving this review because people suffering from severe skin issues will need guidance on where to go. And we need this kind of expertise and medical care in the Bay Area."
"I have been seeing Dr. Austin for almost 3 years now for acne scars treatment and my skin is totally transformed. People think I look at least 10 years younger than my age. I would say that my acne scars have been improved by 80% after multiple sessions of tca cross and laser genesis. Most of my ice pick scars have filled in. Recently I also had Fraxel laser to improve the shallow scars , black spots, and overall skin texture. Dr. Austin is amazing and she cares about her patient. She would call me after the procedure to make sure that I was doing fine. She also responded very quickly on all my questions related to post-procedure. Now my skin has been improved further after fraxel laser. I will continue to see Dr. Austin for other treatments to keep my skin young and heathy so I don’t age. Thank you Dr. Austin and her team. "I am not exaggerating when I say that Dr. Andrea Hui Austin is a LIFE CHANGER. I’ve been seeing her for almost two years now for treatment of my rosacea and acne and skin is clearer than it’s ever been, clearer than I ever hoped it would be. I first started seeing Dr. Austin in 2019, a few months after I turned 31. I’d been diagnosed with rosacea in middle school and had otherwise had fairly clear skin until I reached college. In college, I started breaking out more and more frequently until my acne was basically chronic. Some people in my family had late-bloomer acne, so I told myself it would probably just clear up as I got older, and I tried to take the best care of my skin that I could in the meantime. I tried every OTC treatment under the sun, went on different diets, and saw a series of dermatologists who put me on a range of topical medications and oral antibiotics. Nothing made much of a difference and by my late 20s I’d was so close to giving up and resigning myself to having bad skin for the rest of my life, although it made me feel miserable.That’s when I realized that the one thing I hadn’t tried was seeing a dermatologist who specializes in treating rosacea. I did some googling and Dr. Austin’s name came up again and again, so I scheduled a consult. My expectations weren’t high, given how little luck I’d had before. But Dr. Austin completely blew me away in the consult. Not only was she able to explain why my rosacea was causing these breakouts, but I was blown away by her empathy; she started the appointment by asking me to tell her about my history of rosacea and acne and after I went through the litany of things I’d tried she said, "I’m so sorry you had to go through that." It made me tear up to feel like someone cared and understood how much having bad skin can take a toll on self-esteem.She started me on a routine of oral medication and new topical skincare products, and did an excellent job of answering all my questions and explaining how each product or medication worked and why it was necessary. I noticed a difference in my skin within weeks, and once the breakouts were more under control we began a series of laser treatments to help tame the rosacea. As my skin continued to heal and improve, the treatments became less frequent, and I’m now at the point where I only have them a few times a year. My skin has healed enough that she’s also able to address the scarring I have from acne and, honestly, that’s a milestone I never thought I’d reach until I started working with her. She’s continued to be a thoughtful and kind person, celebrating the milestones with me as my skin healed, remembering details about my personal life, and engaging me in conversation during the treatments; I feel like she really cares.As a bonus, the whole BACD staff is competent, professional, and friendly. They keep things running smoothly, call/email back quickly, and have a very flexible auto-ship program that sends my topical products to me four times a year. BACD has done a sterling job of adapting to the pandemic--they’ve put up signage, spaced out appointments, created physical distance in the waiting room, and changed their payment process so you pay in the treatment room. I’ve noticed some other places get lax with these types of measures as the pandemic has gone on, but BACD has been incredibly consistent, which I appreciate.If you have rosacea and acne, Dr. Austin is your gal. She’s truly and completely changed my skin in a way I never thought possible. I highly, highly recommend her!(The photos I’ve included from her office are from before the acne scarring treatment; the personal photos I included are after one acne scarring treatment. No digital filters, no makeup or concealer in any of these photos!)"
"Dr. Austin has changed my life. My skin has significantly cleared up since I started seeing her, I RARELY get any pimples now and thanks to treatments like the Vbeam laser and TCA cross my scarring is very limited. All the staff and Dr. Austin are friendly and kind, it’s always a good experience going in. Dr. Austin remembers details about my life even when I don’t see her for months at a time. I recommend her to any of my friends who ask for skincare advice. My only complaint is that I didn’t start coming here sooner; I didn’t realize what a big difference having a dermatologist approved skincare routine would make!!"
"I visited Dr. Austin for a skin consultation after receiving a recommendation from one of my friends who sees Dr. Austin for Botox (Xeomin) injections and to review & remove any suspicious moles/freckles and review skin damage on my neck. Her office staff are very friendly & helpful. After washing my face (they provide makeup pad removers, facial wash & a hair band), photos were taken including one with a camera to determine sun damage. Dr. Austin has a very positive, glowing energy about her & was very easy to speak with about my skin concerns. After a full review of my skin & my skincare regimen, I got 20 units of Xeomin in my forehead & removal of a mole that was progressively getting larger on my upper lip. Thankfully the lab report indicated that it was benign. I visited again about 10 days later for additional freckle removal & treatment for sun damage on my neck, as well as a check in for my Botox injections to see how it settled in. The Botox looked great & my skin was smooth. I’ve healed up from my 2nd visit & my skin looks great.Her strongest recommendations is to always wear sunblock (I wear 2-3 layers on my face but I forgot to apply on weekdays to my neck when I was living in Hawaii which resulted in 15 years of sun damage while driving )."

Dr Austin has a reputation for being extremely careful and honest with her patients and each botox procedure I have had with her has been flawless. I also have to shout out nurse mary who is a rare gem in this industry. She makes any procedure comfortable-- even microneedling. She is so deeply personable and makes every patient feel special. The supporting staff is always so patient and caring as well... and Monica the esthetician who supports dr Austin is another absolute gem and has a fabulous bed side manner-- this office is unique in its precision with treatments and lovely people to make sure you’re always at ease."
"I cannot begin to express my satisfaction with Dr. Andrea Hui-Austin at Bay Area. Cosmetic Dermatology. During the first 3 months of covid I experienced hair loss. It was very drastic. I reached out to Dr Austin and she immediately put in a prescription at my local pharmacy. She advised about the medications and how they work. Within 2 weeks there was a change., which Dr Austin advised I would notice. My scalp wasn’t dry and I noticed growth starting. I just finished my last dose of the medication and can tell you the results is like night and day from the beginning . My hair has not only fully grown back in but it’s thicker as well and my scalp is not dry. You can see in the pictures how the it has filled in during the 3 month period. "7/16/2020Dr. Austin is absolutely the best dermatologist in the US. I have seen countless Dermatologist from Stanford University to Dr. Obagi in Beverly Hills, none of them were able to help my melasma issue. Dr Austin looks out-of-the-box she’s smart, knowledgeable, self-confident and most importantly very experienced! She’s also a very kind beautiful lady who will listen to you and solve your problem. I am so happy I have found her after years of struggle. She has solved my melasma issue and I’m super happy! The treatment is easy and simple, just couple products for the face and a pill to take orally. She might be able to see you on zoom now that we have this pandemic problem. "I came to Dr. Austin because I had noticed I was experiencing hair loss and was concerned. She immediately got to work to isolate the problem and ordered a variety of tests to ensure we got an answer. The tests revealed that I was severely anemic and I then understood why I was also experiencing significant fatigue and a variety of other symptoms. Dr. Austin provided me with a regimen of iron supplements and a hair growth formula to address both the anemia and the hair loss. Within a few months, my anemia was resolved and, not only was I regrowing my hair, I truly believe I have more hair than ever before and receive compliments from friends and my hair stylist. "Dr Steven He is the best! I've visited this office in the past and have seen Dr Welsh and Dr Hui occasionally throughout the years but Dr He will be my go-to dermatologist. He was so nice, so knowledgeable and really took his time with me. Follow up call to check in with me after some Botox, felt very taken care of! "I found Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology via Yelp. I made my first appointment and had to wait for a month and a half to get in which was over a year ago. I had been to so many Dermatologists, Cosmetologists, clowns, rip offs you name it, this wait was so worth!! I had melasma due to my pregnancy, very bad acne scars. When I saw Dr Austin, I bombarded her with all my bad experiences and kept asking for a chemical peel, sounds so funny now:-) She brought me back to earth and came up with a plan and took her time to explain me about my issues first and then the steps of her plan. Within a few months, my melasma was almost gone. We are still working on my acne scars but they ve almost disappeared as well. Dr. Austin is the BEST dermatologist I have ever come across by far!! She fixed all my medical skin issues and my confidence as a result. In the meantime, I moved to South bay and have been driving an hour an a half to Sf to see her!! Also, I started doing Botox and fillers with her (I am 42). This place is worth every penny! Do yourself a favor and go see Dr. Austin if you have skin issues! She is an amazing sorcerer!"

"Dr. Austin has worked wonders for my skin. I'm currently 26 years old and have suffered from acne since I was 12. In the pre-Dr.Austin days, my acne would flare up before my period, resulting in 2-4 painful bumps in the chin/cheek areas. It was never bad enough for me to try more serious treatments like Accutane, but the combination of active/healing acne with mild rosacea made me feel like I couldn't go out without several layers of foundation. As a teenager, I tried everything for my acne: salicylic acid spot treatments, benozyl peroxide cleansers, tea tree oil, and clindamycin peroxide (which worked amazingly well for a few weeks until it stopped working completely). In my adult life, I came to accept acne as a recurring monthly struggle, even though I continued to be insanely envious of other Asian women with effortlessly beautiful skin. I have been a patient of Bay Area Cosmetic for more years than I can remember (think back to Laurel Village when the office was the size of a closet!!!). Dr. Kathleen Welsh and Dr. Andrea Hui Austin are the consummate professionals when it comes to dermatology and I trust my face and my skin to no one else. For over 15 years I saw Dr. Welsh exclusively but in recent years, and as a result of a more robust practice, I have transitioned to being a patient of Dr. Austin. Through regular visits I am able to maintain a rejuvenated appearance with a clear complexion. Dr. Austin has a tremendous understanding of the bone structure and muscle placement of the human face. Her skill in administering delicate injections is something to behold. The results to my skin are subtle but with noticeable improvements both in appearance and texture. I never leave the office looking 'done', rather I leave feeling refreshed and more youthful whilst at the same time looking natural. On many occasions after receiving injectables I have been able to attend work functions the very same day. Minimal bruising, no down time and a natural appearance. "I've been treated with every rosecea treatment existing and evolving for a period of over thirty years. Anyone with this condition knows how persistent and difficult it can be to treat so I did a yelp search using the key word "rosacea" in hopes of finding yet another approach to managing - yelp.com/biz/andrea-hui-…. My search showed Dr. Andrea Hui Huston as having the highest number of positive reviews for rosacea treatment so that is why I chose her and why I am now writing this review. After only a few months of treatment, the changes in my skin have been remarkable. Not only has the red hue of my face diminished but the texture, smoothness and pore size has improved quite noticeably. In my case, Dr. Austin uses a combination of applications including a variety of topicals. I've always been distrustful of ointments and such that supposedly improve rosacea because they've never worked in the past but for me, these have been incredibly effective. The severity of flushing I've always had a problem with has reduced dramatically also which I believe in part is the result of an oral medication she prescribed. I am beyond pleased with the effectiveness of treatment I've received from Dr. Hui Austin. It's my hope that this review may help others find remedy to their problematic dermatological concerns."

"I'm 46 and have been planning on visiting a dermatologist for a few years to have an increasing number of broken veins and milia sorted. Dr Hui was recommended by a friend and I finally made time for an appointment. What a revelation. It transpired I have rosacea, not broken veins, and a combination of a monthly tablet and daily cream have basically cleared it up (this has also had the side benefit of reducing irritation I had in my eyes which is also caused by rosacea, so double win). I had eczema on my face in my 20's and have always been very wary of new skincare regimes after finding a handful of over the counter creams that didn't aggravate it. Dr Hui prescribed and provided samples of a proposed regime which within days cleared up some inflammations and made my skin look 10X better. I've now had 2x laser for light resurfacing and to sort a few veins that became visible when the rosacea cleared. It requires a few days working from home/weekend (I look a bit like a chipmunk for 4 days), but the impact on my skin texture and tone is incredible. I've dropped all but a touch of concealer (vs full foundation) and there is a noticeable improvement in small wrinkles as well. All in all, I wish I'd done this 10 years earlier!! Dr Hui has a fabulous manner, is super efficient, and works with your schedule in terms of treatments/what you can incorporate into your working life. I cannot recommend her too highly."
"I started seeing Dr. Hui (now Austin) in June 2018. So far, I'm very satisfied with the result. I suffered from acne as a teenager which lead to many scars on my face. I have tried so many different treatments including dermabrasion, CO2 laser, chemical peels, photo facial, micro-needling, etc. in the past 20 years to improve the large pores and scars. However, some of the treatments made my skin even worse than before and also left more scars on my face. My skin became extremely sensitive and was prone to scarring after break out. The micro-needling helps to improve some shallower scars but not the deep ice pick scars. I was so discouraged but I don't want to live with scars for the rest of my life. I'm so lucky that found Dr. Hui. She outlined a treatment plan for me. She recommended some skin care products, Laser Genesis and TCA Cross. At first, I was skeptical but I wanted to give it a last try. At the consultation appointment, Dr. Hui performed the TCA Cross on 5 test spots. She did not charge me extra for the test spots other than the consultation fee. So far, I had 2 treatments of Laser Genesis and TCA Cross. I've been following her face regimen and using all the products she recommended. I still need to do a few more sessions but I can see a great improvement in my skin. Most of the scars that have been crossed are much shallower and smaller than before. There are a few ice pick scars have completely filled in. I couldn't believe it because those scars were on my face for 20+ years. TCA cross has shown me the most improvement on my scars of anything I have done before. The patches on my skin are gone and my skin is much firmer. I will confine this treatment until all my scars are filled in. Please keep in mind that the scars may look worse when the scars first fall off but they will continue to fill in and heal over time. The process can take from 2-6 months after the treatment. Please be patience. Dr. Hui and NP Mary are amazing. I highly recommend Dr. Hui for those who are suffering from acne scars."
"Dr. Austin saved my skin (and my life!) I started seeing Dr. Austin in May, when I was really frustrated and at a breaking point after dealing with severe cystic acne for quite some time. It got so bad that even leaving my house was a struggle. After a quick consultation, Dr. Austin got down to business. She wrote out a clear, easy-to-follow, thorough skincare routine that required topical products & an oral prescription. I left feeling very hopeful for the first time in forever. "I have struggled with severe acne for my whole life and have spent thousands of dollars on proactive, x-out, bioré, natural solutions like witch hazel, tea tree oil, etc. None of these products worked for me and some of them made my skin severely dry, red, or caused my hyper-pigmentation to be more noticeable. I was losing hope that I would ever have clear skin until I came across TCA peels (trichloroacetic acid) on youtube, I saw that there was a lot of positive reviews as well as horror stories , but I felt like I was out of options so I decided to set up a consultation at Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology, I didn't feel like my skin could get any worse so even if the skin peel didn't work, I felt that It was still worth the risk. When I first arrived, it was a 250 dollar fee for new patients and they looked at my skin and offered several products for a skin care regiment and they told me that my skin issues were caused because my body produced a little more testosterone then a normal woman. They prescribe me spironolactone to help prevent further extreme break outs and tranexamic acid to help with my hyper-pigmentation, after one month I noticed a severe decline in break outs. Before I was on these medications I was getting 5 - 10 new pimples every week plus back acne, after being on these medications it was like 1 or 2 every month. After getting my acne settled, we then started to work on my hyper pigmentation, I had expressed that I wanted a TCA peel but Dr.Austin told me that with my skin tone a TCA peel would be too extreme and might remove the melanin from my skin. I didn't want to ruin my skin tone but I also didn't want the dark spots, Dr.Austin then recommended that I get a less deep peel and we decided to go with either a lactic acid peel or a glycolic acid peel. When I received my first peel I noticed dramatic changes. I still had a lot hyper pigmentation but it was very different from before. I am now 7 peels in and I am very happy with my results! I wish I would have come here sooner, it would have saved me thousands in skin care products that didn't work for me. Each peel I received was 250$, and worth every penny. The pictures below show my current skin condition and what it looked like after my first 3 peels (sorry I only started taking pictures after the first 3!), I will also post what it looks like when its peeling, will update with more photos after this current peel is completely done. "I suffer from acne scarring quite significantly on my cheeks. When I went for my consultation, Dr Hui suggested subcision with micropen treatments & said I'd need 4-6. I was incredibly nervous for the first subcision treatment & Dr. Hui made me feel so comfortable and walked me through the process very slowly. "I went to Bay Area Dermatology because a few of the girls in my office recommend it. I had developed a really bad case of melasma on my cheeks and upper lip. When I made an appointment they had asked me if I had a preference as to who I wanted to see. I told the receptionist that I had Asian skin so if I could get someone that is familiar with treating common Asian skin issues that would be fantastic. I was scheduled an appointment with Dr. Hui.At my first meet with Dr. Hui she confirmed that I did indeed have melasma and that my next step was to start getting chemical peels 4-6 weeks apart. Wow. Holy smokes! So far I've received 3 chemical peels and the melasma is almost gone. It's at the point where I am able to cover it up with just foundation. Yippee! Additionally, two years ago I had an intensive peel and spots on the backs of my hands treated, and last year, a light peel. Although it seems counter-intuitive, I am now paying less per visit than I did ten years ago; I don't need as much! I also am not trying to look decades younger, only slow the external manifestations of aging. This goal is exactly what Dr. Welsh continues to achieve. The work is subtle, yet I am always met with disbelief when I tell people I am fifty-eight. I had suffered from psoriasis for the last 10 years, visiting multiple dermatologists, with an itchy scalp, skin flakes constantly. Dr. Hui quickly identified that the reason I was not getting better is that I have psoriasis along with seborrheic dermatitis. She took the time to explain to me exactly what that meant, tips for avoiding flare-ups and prescribed a treatment plan that fits in with my lifestyle. "I have asymmetrical chin. One side of the face is a little under-developed than the other. As the most noticeable result, the jar line is incoherent at the tip of the chin with left half about 0.5cm smaller than the right. I always thought it would require complicated and intrusive surgery with thousands of $$$ to fix the asymmetry.After consulting with a renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Eshima, I was advised that a simple chin filler procedure will solve the whole problem and Dr. Hui was recommended. Of course, I did a bit of "google research" before going to Dr. Hui's office just to understand the pros and cons of different common materials, such as Juvederm, Radiesse, etc. During my consultation with Dr. Hui, Juvederm Vollure was brought up. "I can't say enough good things about Dr Welsh and Dr Huy. I have been seeing Dr Welsh for 20 years, since high school. She has saved my face a few times... Severe cystic acne, severe acne scarring all over my entire face, a dog attack that severely mangled my cheek... big stuff. Over the course of my life I have experienced that feeling of shame and insecurity because my face looked so messed up that I didn't want people to look at me. And every time, Dr Welsh put my face back together and then some. "Don't bother going anywhere else for your skin concerns!Now that I'm reaching middle-age I had developed a pretty serious case of papular rosacea that was progressively getting worse. After trying several different things nothing was making a difference, in fact, some of the creams/lotions I tried made the rosacea worse! "First of all, I want to thank Dr Hui, who has transformed my skin. I have rosacea/acne/eczema (and some other stuff...). I am a doctor myself, and I had tried everything. I had been to numerous dermatologists for lasers and prescriptions creams. I did my research, and I felt like I was following the most up-to-date medical guidelines for my skin and still nothing was getting better. As my skin got worse, I tried Eastern medicine, accupuncture, and regular facials. "I visited Dr. Hui for my acne scars due to a life time acne problem. I have been to numerous dermatologist and estheticians in multiple states and have spend upwards of $5,000 before coming to Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatolgy and seeing Dr. Andrea Hui. As soon as Dr. Hui came in the room she knew exactly what I needed to fix my skin. She and along with her awesome, very polite and super knowledgeable assistant, Ariana, will service your skin needs in an unparalleled manner. I am all about one thing, which is results. As mentioned above I have spent and have been to numerous dermatologist that have wasted so much of my time and money. Before meeting with Dr. Hui I used countless creams, injections, peels, facials, etc.,etc.! As a result of so many failed attempts at fixing my scars and pigmentation I started to research, which lead me to Dr. Hui. Meeting with Dr. Hui was unrushed, which encouraged me to fully explain my history, unlike other dermatologist that gives you less then five minutes to explain. I did not want any more creams or facials being that none of that worked, which I made clear to Dr. Hui who completely understood. After talking with Dr Hui we settled on a treatment program, which included the V-Beam, Juvederm Ultra Plus, CO2 laser and subcision, lighting pads and ONE Retin-A cream. "Dr. Andrea Hui is an absolute miracle worker! I came to Dr. Hui extremely frustrated and defeated because my skin was the worst it has ever been - I had acne all over my chin and cheeks and red scars everywhere. Prior to coming to Dr. Hui, I tried everything to get rid of my acne including different dermatologists, several elimination diets and too many harsh skin care products that wouldn't clear up my skin but would just dry it out. "I have battled back acne for over 30 years and over that time have seen different dermatologists, have been prescribed oral antibiotics such as erythromycin and doxycycline, have had 3 rounds of Accutane in the late '90's, early 2000's, and tried different prescription creams. "Dr. Hui has been a godsend for my rosacea-prone, inflamed, acne-scarred skin that is highly sensitized to pretty much everything. I thought I'd tried every product out there for very sensitive skin (OTC as well as seeing other dermatologists), and had pretty much resigned myself to having to wear makeup every time I left the house so my face didn't look like a splotchy mess. But then I read great reviews about the practice and decided to see Dr. Hui, and my skin has been transformed. I told her my goal was to wear zero makeup, and we've been steadily progressing towards that goal with great results. She made me discard my overly complicated skincare routine and get back to basics. My skincare routine now takes 30 seconds in the morning and 2 minutes at night, and my skin looks so much better in every way. My skin has been transformed!I moved to San Francisco earlier this year and was in need of a new dermatologist and I am so happy to have found Dr. Hui! I am extremely pleased with all the treatments and medical advice I have received from her and her assistants. She listens closely to my questions and concerns each time I see her and goes out of her way to make sure I am comfortable during my procedures. I went to see Dr. Hui for the first time for Botox a February. This is a procedure I've had done several times before elsewhere. First of all, the Botox looked amazing! There was no need to touch up and it looks very natural. Secondly, she introduced me to a more permanent way to keep the wrinkles away--Retin A. I was a little hesitant to try Retin A again after having a terrible experience with it when I used it for acne as a teenager. However, Dr. Hui's method of application was so gentle, I was able to tolerate the Retin A without any problems! Dr. Hui currently helped me transition over to a new skincare regimen when I found out I was pregnant to keep my skin looking at its best and I'm so happy when I look in the mirror!I am very thankful to have found such a knowledgeable and caring dermatologist. I've been seeing a dermatologist since I was 12 years old because of cystic acne that covered my head neck, and shoulders (which is long gone!) I'm very careful with my skincare routine and the dermatologists I choose. Dr. Hui is extremely caring and knowledgeable and I highly recommend her and Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology."

"I don't know why its taken me so long to write this review given that I have been going here for years and the fact that I L-O-V-E this place! I've seen Dr. Welsh and Dr. Hui and can't say enough great things about both of them. The first time I saw Dr. Hui, I was going through a divorce and had developed a nasty, itchy horrible rash on my leg due to stress. I was feeling really awful about myself. Dr. Hui really went above and beyond, she not only cured my rash and did some Botox and filler, she was so kind and supportive of my situation. I walked out feeling so much better, so much more like my old pre-divorce self! My botox and filler is always flawless--Dr. Hui doesn't make you look plastic--she makes you look well rested and healthy. "I love Bay Area Dermatology. I go to both Dr. Welsh and Dr. Hui. I switch off because I love them both. They have similar styles of treatment in that they both want to give you your best skin possible- while giving you a natural look. I think it looks awful when someone's face is over treated. I really appreciate that they both are perfectionists and don't over do it. You can always go in for more! Recently, I went to Dr. Hui for v-beam to combat my redness as well as Botox and fillers to combat aging. It's pretty amazing that everyone comments on my skin and when I tell them I use fillers they are blown away. Everyone thinks I have naturally good skin- but I have a hard working team. For the first time in my life I feel like I can leave the house with just sun screen on. Awesome! I also have to say that the entire staff is warm and friendly. At this point they feel like friends and family which is always what you want at the doctors. "I have been a patient of Dr. Hui for almost a year. I came to her and the Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology due to still having acne as an adult. :-( I used to have really REALLY bad and painful cystic acne before getting treatment from Dr. Hui. I have also been working with Mabel and Hannah for my peels and they been just as amazing as Dr. Hui.Now after about 8 months of treatment I have no more painful cystic acne and my face is glowing!!! "About a month ago I wrote a very disappointing review for my services at Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology-- I must say that I should have checked-in with my Provider prior to writing the review. What I didn't know is that my treatment plan was not complete, that there were more steps to be taken.I just got back today from a visit with Dr. Hui and I am happy to say---that now I understand my treatment plan, I looked at the photos from before my Fraxel treatment and I do see improvement. "I've been hesitant to write my review for Dr. Hui and Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology for some time now, not because my experience has been anything less than "five-star worthy" but, out of concern that my words - or writing ability, will fail to appropriately articulate just how wonderful my overall experience as a patient here has been. Nevertheless, here it goes...!I want to say, first, that making the decision to schedule my initial visit (around November 2015) with Dr. Hui at Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology has proved to be one of the most rewarding decisions I've ever made. I urge anyone who is, or has, suffered from acne (or any dermatological conditions) to make an appointment with Dr. Hui and Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology. The results of my acne-free face, smaller pores, and diminishing facial scars (I would say "acne scars" but Dr. Hui also helped minimize a scar I have on my face, from an old ski accident, that left me with 15 stitches right next to my eye) have superseded my expectations. I'm a female in my mid-twenties and I have struggled with acne for well-over half of my life. I experienced my first round of Accutane before entering High School (in 2005), after becoming consumed with acne along my face, back and chest; I experienced my second round of Accutane before graduating from college (in 2013); I began experiencing hormonal acne post-college (in 2015). Each of my bouts with Acne have certainty had, both, a physical and mental effect on me. During my first appointment with Dr. Hui, I recall feeling a sense of shame or embarrassment as I divulged the relatively aggressive lengths I had gone, in the past, to combat my acne. I felt certain that after so much treatment, with so much input from so many doctors, Dr. Hui would render clear skin, for me, as hopeless. Dr. Hui quickly put me at ease, though, as she assured me that experiencing cystic hormonal acne, as a mid-twenties female, is extremely common - regardless of the time I spent on Accutane. She assured me that my situation was not unique and wrote up a comprehensive and thorough AM/PM routine for me. My AM/PM routine and product-usage has changed, slightly, but Dr. Hui and her medical assistant always explains and discusses any of these changes (and the reasoning behind it) during your appointments. I'm so curious what my skin would look like, today, if I had discovered Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology years ago -- but I'll take the way it's starting to look today!"

"I have struggled with acne and acne scarring since sophomore year of high school (I am now 20). No matter what I tried and who I saw I just couldn't get my acne under control. My skin only worsened when I went off to college. I was so insecure about my skin that I would try to avoid going out in the sunlight or in bright lighting. I even tried to stop looking at myself in mirrors because it made me so self conscious. My skin was affecting my social life and desire to see people in a negative way and was a constant source of stress and anxiety (which only made my acne worse). That is, until I began working with Dr. Hui in the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of college. In the year since meeting Dr. Hui my acne and scarring has improved dramatically. I am now more confident and excited about going out and seeing people.Dr. Hui started me on a very low dose of Accutane and a nighttime retin-a. Her goal was to clear up the acne first and then work on the scarring underneath. When the acne began to clear up, Dr. Hui started doing V-Beam lasers on my scarring. This reduced the red spots on my skin that I had had for years. Before the V-Beam I couldn't remember the last time that I looked at my face and it wasn't a red, blotchy mess. Last week Dr. Hui performed a Fraxel laser on my skin to even out the texture and alleviate more of the scarring. While it has only been a week since the procedure, the results are very noticeable. My skin is much smoother and has less marks from scarring and will only continue to improve over time (according to Dr. Hui). This is the best my skin has looked since starting high school and it is all thanks to Dr. Hui and her MAs Mabel, Chrissy, Isabel, and Euridice. I am now going back to school for the spring quarter with a newfound confidence in my skin. I will continue on the low dose of the Accutane and the nighttime retin-a and hopefully my skin will clear up more every day.In addition to the actual work that she did on my skin, Dr. Hui and Mabel, Chrissy, Isabel, and Euridice were incredibly warm and accommodating. Dr. Hui and her MAs always spent time explaining every detail of my skin regiment to me and answering any questions that I had (no matter how ridiculous). They were very patient and I never felt rushed. "Dr. Andrea Hui is the best dermatologist I have ever been to on every level. She is kind, extremely knowledgeable and supremely skilled. Before I was even a patient of Dr. Hui's she actually advised me on the questions I should ask other dermatologists before I began getting botox, and filler. She has been my dermatologist for about 3 years now and I can honestly say my face and skin are exactly where I want them to be.
I am now 34 years and I originally went to see Dr. Hui because I was starting to get the "I look tired even when I'm not tired" look under my eyes - I was also beginning to lose fullness in my cheeks. What I love about going to Dr. Hui is that her work is so subtle you see YOU not filler or botox. She has done wonders with subtly filling in under my eyes and filling out my cheeks just enough to get rid of the pesky little smile lines. "Dr. Andrea Hui is the best! I have seen numerous dermatologists in Atlanta and in the bay area prior to making an appointment with Dr.Hui. I had an extreme case of back acne that started after the birth of my second child. I've been prescribed everything from topical and oral antibiotics to creams and nothing has worked. Less than a month after Dr.Hui gave me a single topical cream, I no longer have back acne! I can wear tank tops and bathing suit tops! My husband can not believe how good my back looks! "Dr. Hui is a miracle worker! I had been on BenzaClin, Differin, and oral antibiotics for almost a decade without much success. Right after my 24th birthday, my skin was worse than ever. "I've been seeing Dr Hui for 2 months now. 2 months ago I had terrible acne but now my skin is very clear. Dr Hui is really knowledgeable. I wanted to do a fraxel laser but she told me I need to get my acne under control first and then do the fraxel. She prescribed some pills and she does extractions when I see her. "I am compelled to write another review on Dr. Hui because I am just so amazed with her talent. She is an exceptional dermatologist. I first saw her in Sept. 2014 to clear up my skin for my up-coming wedding. Not only did she clear up my skin super fast but she transformed my skin entirely. At my initial visit I was just desperate for clear skin but this miracle doctor gave me much more than clear skin; she gave me healthy, glowing skin, which was not something I ever thought I could have. Once I achieved totally clear and radiant skin and since I trust her completely, I began to experiment with filler. Love the results. I recently went back to get filler in my lips and am totally happy. It didn't hurt at all (and I am a big wimp) and she does it in such a way that you don't get that awful duck-lip (unless that's your kind of thing...). "So practically overnight, I developed a bright red and very itchy scalp, neck and decollate. My skin was totally inflamed for seemingly no reason. Over a year and a half, I consulted 4 dermatologists in two states seeking a solution and an answer to what caused this. Between these doctors I had a scalp biopsy taken (needed a stitch), was given 3 topical creams, several oral meds, and even a peanut oil based solution to wear on my head, under a plastic cap - overnight for 2 weeks! Talk about annoying and messy. As a new San Franciscan, I made an appointment with Dr Hui for my annual skin check and asked her to take a look. She thought I was either allergic to hair dye or nail polish (allergic contact dermatitis). I was somewhat skeptical about the polish being the cause, I mean after all, how could polish on my nails affect my head? So instead I visited my hair salon to have a glob of hair dye put on my arm, under a bandage, for 48 hours. Thankfully, there was no reaction! So thinking that Dr Hui knows her stuff, I removed the polish on both my fingers and toes. The next day I had no irritation or redness. What a relief and what a simple solution - that no other physician had thought of! Thank you Dr Hui!"

My experience with Dr. Hui has been wonderful and very pleasant. She treated around my eyes with Belotero using the blunt-tipped cannula to minimize bruising and to create a much more natural result. The eyes are very difficult to treat because there is little room for error; also I have a condition which causes me to bruise much more easily, so being treated with the cannula was very important. My results were fantastic. My eyes looked perfectly natural and symmetrical. I continue to see Dr. Hui and she has treated other areas fillers and Botox. Thanks again Dr. Hui."

"My dentist said that I was grinding my teeth and that Botox might help. Cue disbelief. He recommended this office, and I saw Dr. Hui for Botox. She said that my jawline was very wide, and that Botox would slim my face too. It turns out I've been pretty self-conscious about my wide jaws my whole life, besides my jaws feeling tight all the time and ruining my teeth. She took her time explaining how Botox works and how it would affect my muscles and profile. I was pretty stoked. Dr. Hui injected me with Botox to my jaw. It was painless because she used numbing cream. 2 weeks later, I am without pain, which is pretty awesome. I also think I look a lot better because my jaws are slimmer (see pics). Best decision ever. I need a touch up every 3-4 months. I will definitely go back to Dr. Hui for my Botox. She tried to get me into skincare but I'm not ready yet. Maybe next time. "My daughter has had a rough road with acne. She has seen approximately 4 different dermatologists since the age of 13 and hadminimal success with her treatments. After going away to college, she thought her skin just may get better as she entered adulthood,unfortunately, the opposite occurred and she developed severe hormonal cystic acne, so detrimental, it affected her daily life and she soonwas not going out to functions to avoid "being seen" and slipping into a bit of a depression. "I started to see Dra. Andrea Hui in the end of May (2015), because I had the most crazy acne during the whole semester, due to stress, and as I am not from United States it took me a while until I get to the clinic. I had some facials done in other places along the semester, but they weren't helpful at all, the acne just kept getting worst. When I finally got to see Dra. Hui was when everything started to change, she is an amazing person and really understands what your skin needs. As I am very anxious I firstly scheduled a consult to know more about the Fraxel laser, but she told me how we first needed to control the acne before treating the scars. The process is not easy and it can get very bad until it starts to get better, but you have to trust Dra. Hui and her assistant, Euridice because it is all part of the process. There is no shortcuts and you have to follow the routine and commit to the treatment, and they are the best people to help you get through it, not only because of their knowledge but because they are also very caring people. The first three months were the hardest for me, but from the fourth to the fifth things started to get really good, the breakouts were almost non-existent, and my skin texture was completely changed. I had a lot of redness from inflammation so before doing the Fraxel we did a couple of V Beam laser sections, and they were amazing, after the first one I didn't see a huge change, but after the second and the third I was very impressed. For me the worst part of having acne is that it makes you feel very bad to be in your own skin, and how the coverage that makeup gives still doesn't actually help to make you feel better. And I really like how Dra. Hui understands that, I really recommend her, she is very correct and professional, so you can trust her completely, she knows the steps and the right moment to do the different treatments that your skin might need. Some tips I would give is to schedule your consult in a day and time you will probably leave the clinic and go home, it is easier to do the procedures in days you don't need to be anywhere afterwards. And mostly if you have problems with acne get it treated with a great professional such as Dra. Hui and her staff, because there are so many products and false promises out there, and to have the guidance of someone who actually knows what she is doing is the only way to have real and lasting improvement."

"I love this place and the work they do! I opted for a fraxel treatment when considering major work, including plastic surgery. Dr. Hui performed the treatment and I am so happy with the results that I believe it was a much better alternative to surgery. The skin on my face and neck looks at least 10 years younger; all the dark spots, little moles, fine lines and leathery red skin are gone and now I am able to skip foundation and still look great. "First, I saw Dr. Hui about my acne. Homerun. I suffered from crazy acne my whole life because I have polycystic ovary syndrome. I'm a skincare therapist, and trust me I've tried pretty much everything to clear my acne. But it was literally so stubborn that I gave up. when it did start to clear up, I was able for the first time to imagine my skin break out free, you could say I was a little more than impressed. Because of Dr. Hui, my acne is cleared. Whoo hoo!I just wanted to update my review to talk about my last appointment, which was filler by Dr. Hui- Restylane Silk to be exact. DANG! I'm half Sicilian and part Cherokee Indian. One of the dominating hereditary traits in my Sicilian side is the dark, saggy, under eye area. On the Native American side, high cheekbones angle no way that kind of Pinterest things at the center of my face. It basically causes most people on the Indian side of my family to have deep lines on either side of our nose and mouth. Have literally had these lines and saggies since I was a little girl. If I can find a picture of seven-year-old saggy eyed me I will post it! But I always just dealt with it. It's life. We are who we are, eat some Cheerios and deal with it. But oh wait, enter Dr. Hui!As you can see from my photos a little bit of help goes a VERRRY long way. She expertly filled the portion that was sallow, results are awesome. She is the best! I went to another doctor in the city for some under eye filling, and he literally said that it's too risky, lumps are too much of a risk, and that he didn't want to be responsible for messing up my eyes. After that I was pretty scared to hit of anyone else for filler. Casually chatting about it, because Dr. Hui and I chat about pretty much everything, she was genuinely upset when I mentioned I was told there's nothing that can be done to help the saggyness. She asked for a chance to show me differently, and since I trust her and had nothing but pretty much perfect results up into this point, I said why not let's go for it. If it gets messed up and lumpy like that first doctor suggested I have a lot of Cheerios at home to drown my sorrows in. Well, it's been made abundantly clear to me that all dermatologists are not created equally and that if you think an expert is expensive, you'll probably change your mind when you consult an amateur. She's the real deal you guys. I honestly think she might be the best. The lighting in the room in my before pictures are a little yellow but there is NO editing or filters on either of the photos. "Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology has a very important asset and that's Dr. Hui!For almost a decade, I have suffered from terrible cystic acne that covered my cheeks, temples and jawline. Worse than the acne was the scarring that was left behind. The more years that went by, the more layers of make up went on.However, the day that I realized I had put on three shades of foundation just to look like me, I knew it was time to see a dermatologist. Lucky for me, I found the right one. When I met Dr. Hui, my skin was truly at its lowest point. Furthermore, I was really nervous for someone to actually see me without make up. Dr. Hui was amazing. She talked to me about my skincare routine at the time (which was pretty much nonexistent), the type of acne I had, and the various routes we could take to tackle it. We went over it together to make sure I was clear on the instructions. As someone with little exposure to any skincare routine at the time, this paper was one of the best tools I could have been given. I followed every last detail of her treatment plan. Month one..my acne was still there. Month three... it was GONE. The improvement was drastic. Not only had my acne completely subsided but the scarring had greatly diminished. Now, months later, I can happily say that I rarely wear any make up and I have Dr. Hui to thank for that! She is patient, professional and deeply committed to making her patients look and feel more confident in their skin. I truly cannot recommend her enough... she is wonderful doctor!"

"I recently went to see Dr Andrea Hui in order to get two prominent blue veins removed by laser treatment from underneath my eyes. I was not looking forward to having the protective metal eye shields inserted but Dr Hui was so gentle I was in no discomfort whatsoever. The blue vein was removed by just a couple of short snaps from the laser and the results look fantastic. I was so impressed by Dr Hui's competence and skill that I went back to have a filler (Belotero) to improve the hollows underneath my eyes. "Got the BEST Results Ever with Restylane Silk - San Francisco, CA - So, I came across Dr. Hui and decided to try a different doctor to fill my lips this time. Dr. Hui did an AMAZING job with Restylane Silk, and I had almost no swelling (she gave me prednisone). I have always swelled up like a balloon after a filler procedure, and have to stay home for a couple days. But today, I was able to make it to my night class, so it's unreal how much little downtime I needed. I will still go back to Dr. Hui just because her artistic eye is really, really on point.
