"I went to see Dr. Austin because I had increasingly more brown spots on my face. It turns out I have melasma and sun damage. She took the time to explain the science and reasoning for the bootcamp regiment she recommended. (I had just wanted to go in and laser off all of my spots instantly!) I followed her instructions and my results are absolutely amazing in a few short weeks!! Most of the browns spots are completely gone, especially the big brown one on the lower left cheek! She even told me I didn't need the follow-up laser treatment anymore and recommended a new and simple maintenance regiment. I am very impressed with her expertise, and everyone at the office is very kind and professional. Also, great care by Clarisse and Mary! I also appreciate how responsive Dr. Austin and the office is with email questions. This is the place to be for your dermatologic needs!"

"Had a great experience with Dr. Austin! She clarified where my product regimen was lacking, prescribed a medication to mitigate this dry patch that always shows up in the same spot on my chin. "Where do I begin?! Dr. Andrea Austin is a talented dermatologist who is passionate about what she does. I have struggled with acne and severe redness since I was a teenager, and have seen many dermatologists. Dr. Austin immediately diagnosed rosacea, and put together a plan of action. For the past year, I have done a combination of VBeam laser, topical, and oral medication. The difference has been astounding. What I thought was straight hormonal acne was really rosacea related. My skin glows now, and I rarely wear make up. Now that my skin is under control, Dr. Austin has helped me take it to the next level, and we have started a regime of retin A, botox, and restalyne. She has an artist’s eye, and truly makes you look like a younger, better-rested version of yourself! The office is very professional and easy to work with. I appreciate the fridge full of seltzers, and their well stocked over the counter products. Thank you Dr. Austin!"
"Anyone who’s struggling with acne problem, please come to see Dr. Austin! My skin was so much better after the first month visiting here, and now I can walk outside with my bare skin and feel confident about it (of cause I’ll still need my eyebrows). Dr. Austin was very patient at explaining the two types of acne I had and recommended a new skincare regiment and prescription pills targeting at those different problems. I never thought washing my face with just water in the morning can have such a big improvement to my skin. If you come to see Dr. Austin, I’m sure she’ll recommend even more skincare tips and treatments that will help to improve your skin! "I’m 46 and have been planning on visiting a dermatologist for a few years to have an increasing number of broken veins and milia sorted. Dr Hui was recommended by a friend and I finally made time for an appointment. What a revelation. It transpired I have rosacea, not broken veins, and a combination of a monthly tablet and daily cream have basically cleared it up (this has also had the side benefit of reducing irritation I had in my eyes which is also caused by rosacea, so double win). I had eczema on my face in my 20’s and have always been very wary of new skincare regimes after finding a handful of over the counter creams that didn’t aggravate it. Dr Hui prescribed and provided samples of a proposed regime which within days cleared up some inflammations and made my skin look 10X better. I’ve now had 2x laser for light resurfacing and to sort a few veins that became visible when the rosacea cleared. It requires a few days working from home/weekend (I look a bit like a chipmunk for 4 days), but the impact on my skin texture and tone is incredible. I’ve dropped all but a touch of concealer (vs full foundation) and there is a noticeable improvement in small wrinkles as well. All in all, I wish I’d done this 10 years earlier!! Dr Hui has a fabulous manner, is super efficient, and works with your schedule in terms of treatments/what you can incorporate into your working life. I cannot recommend her too highly."
"I started seeing Dr. Hui (now Austin) in June 2018. So far, I’m very satisfied with the result. I suffered from acne as a teenager which lead to many scars on my face. I have tried so many different treatments including dermabrasion, CO2 laser, chemical peels, photo facial, micro-needling, etc. in the past 20 years to improve the large pores and scars. However, some of the treatments made my skin even worse than before and also left more scars on my face. My skin became extremely sensitive and was prone to scarring after break out. The micro-needling helps to improve some shallower scars but not the deep ice pick scars. I was so discouraged but I don’t want to live with scars for the rest of my life. I’m so lucky that found Dr. Hui. She outlined a treatment plan for me. She recommended some skin care products, Laser Genesis and TCA Cross. At first, I was skeptical but I wanted to give it a last try. At the consultation appointment, Dr. Hui performed the TCA Cross on 5 test spots. She did not charge me extra for the test spots other than the consultation fee. So far, I had 2 treatments of Laser Genesis and TCA Cross. I’ve been following her face regimen and using all the products she recommended. I still need to do a few more sessions but I can see a great improvement in my skin. Most of the scars that have been crossed are much shallower and smaller than before. There are a few ice pick scars have completely filled in. I couldn’t believe it because those scars were on my face for 20+ years. TCA cross has shown me the most improvement on my scars of anything I have done before. The patches on my skin are gone and my skin is much firmer. I will confine this treatment until all my scars are filled in. Please keep in mind that the scars may look worse when the scars first fall off but they will continue to fill in and heal over time. The process can take from 2-6 months after the treatment. Please be patience. Dr. Hui and NP Mary are amazing. I highly recommend Dr. Hui for those who are suffering from acne scars."
"Dr. Austin saved my skin (and my life!)I started seeing Dr. Austin in May, when I was really frustrated and at a breaking point after dealing with severe cystic acne for quite some time. It got so bad that even leaving my house was a struggle. After a quick consultation, Dr. Austin got down to business. She wrote out a clear, easy-to-follow, thorough skincare routine that required topical products & an oral prescription. I left feeling very hopeful for the first time in forever. By July, my skin had cleared up to the point where I felt comfortable leaving my house again with minimal makeup. Once we stopped the breakouts, I did two rounds of V-Beam Laser to address my scarring. Most recently, I went in for my first round of Laser Genesis. It is now October, and I can finally say that I am 100% makeup free! Hardly any remaining scars, no active cysts. "Wow, what I can say?! I love Dr. Hui because Dr. Hui made me love my skin again. I don't frown at myself in the mirror the first thing in the morning anymore. I see an overall improvement in my skin tone and texture and got compliments from coworkers and friends who noticed a difference in a few weeks. I looked up Dr. Hui on yelp and decided to give her a try. My skin before I saw Dr. Hui was very sensitive, dry and sun damaged; my skin was also thinning due to aging so I lost volume around my eyes, cheeks and especially around my smiley line area. I met with Dr. Hui, who quickly identified my skin issues, and took time to ask me what my goals are with my skin, made some recommendations on daily home skin care and answered my questions. Dr. Hui stressed that the majority of improvement to my skin can be done at home if I follow my regime and stay out of sun. Our goal for me is to have beautiful skin that doesn't need any makeup to cover up. We settled on a home care regime that I thought was agreeable, decided to get fillers that day and photo facials in a few weeks. Dr. Hui performed the injections of the fillers her self, she was fast and gentle and I didn't get any bruise at all. After I went home, I started using the products she recommended and following the home care regime we agreed upon. My skin has improved significantly over the past few weeks. The products Dr. Hui recommend for me to use as part of my home care skin routine were reasonably priced compared to skin care products at Sephora, SAKs or Neiman. The best part that made me have more confidence in purchasing skin care products based on Dr. Hui's recommendations is that her recommendations are based on my skin, what need to be improved and what need to be corrected, very personal and there is no guessing game. I went back to see Dr. Hui after 4 weeks of following my home care regime for our scheduled photo facial. Once again, Dr. Hui performed the photo facial herself, she was fast and gentle but took care to make sure she didn't miss any spots. During the procedure she asked and made sure I was comfortable. She also explained to me what to expect after the photo facial and stressed about staying out the sun while the skin is healing. Dr. Hui also shared her stories of how to keep UV damage low while she was vacationing at the Galapogos, which I thought was very personable and really shows she practices what she preaches. I'm really looking forward to my results after my second photo facial in a few weeks. It's always pleasant to see Dr. Hui knowing I'm in good hands and my skin as well."

"I have been seeing Dr. Welsh (who was initially recommended to me by my primary care physician) since 2007 for fillers, and more recently, Botox, between once and twice a year. Additionally, two years ago I had an intensive peel and spots on the backs of my hands treated, and last year, a light peel. Although it seems counter-intuitive, I am now paying less per visit than I did ten years ago; I don’t need as much! I also am not trying to look decades younger, only slow the external manifestations of aging. This goal is exactly what Dr. Welsh continues to achieve. The work is subtle, yet I am always met with disbelief when I tell people I am fifty-eight. (I should add that I have been using Retin-A since I was thirty, and Dr. Welsh says this makes a huge difference.)Since Dr. Hui has come on board I have seen her once for fillers, with the same excellent results. I wanted to get another intensive peel this year, which Dr. Hui administered eight days ago. The product Dr. Hui currently uses has a much quicker turn-around than the previous two-week period. The treatment is, as Dr. Hui characterized it, "spicy." But the three chili peppers level lasts only for a minute, and my face felt completely normal an hour later. I’ve been slathering my face with Aquafor (and sunscreen when I am outside) and the peeling has ended. I was a bit concerned as my face peeled much more rapidly than with the previous treatment, but when I saw Dr. Hui for a check-in yesterday she reassured me that this was normal for the new product. I currently have patches of redness in varying size and shade over about a third of my face that will fade over the next three to four days. The skin is beautiful, and I won’t feel the need to wear make-up. I am very pleased with the results--at a much lower cost than Fraxel laser treatments.Drs. Welsh and Hui have stellar educations and credentials, yet are down-to-earth. They love their work and it shows. Over ten years I have had only warm, professional interactions with staff, and never once felt pressure to buy products. I have watched my skin and appearance improve under Dr. Welsh’s thoughtful care, and am happy that the equally attentive Dr. Hui has joined her. I am looking forward to the next ten years!"
"I can highly recommend Dr. Hui as a skilled, patient and compassionate dermatologist. The combo gel that she prescribed for my rosacea, that I was very reluctant to try, has made a tremendous difference in the texture of my skin. In addition, she also performed laser treatments for redness. The results are quite remarkable and my condition continues to improve under her care. She’s probably as close to a cure as you can get."
"I suffered from melasma for about 5 years after 2 fraxel treatments. I went to two doctors for melasma consultation , but they only pushed for those expensive laser. I was hesitant to do any laser as it was the cause of my melasma and the result can be unpredictable. Basically, I just lost all hope and accepted my fate until I met Dr. Hui! Dr. Hui gave my life back to me!!! I am reborn !!! Before meeting Dr. Hui, I was depressed , and I lost a lot of valuable family times. I didn’t want to go on any vacation because all I worried was my face. I was scared to go out during summer time because of the sun exposure. I decided to see Dr. Hui after all the 5 stars reviews on the internet. I travel 120 miles to see Dr. Hui, but I must say I’m a lucky girl because I am finally in good hands! Dr. Hui is honest, compassionate, competent, skilled and knowledgeable. She is up to date on the latest treatment, and she puts patient’s safety as her top priority, which is hard to find in the beauty industry these days!! She assessed my previous treatments and came up with a comprehensive treatment that treats me internally & externally! She explained the treatment plan to me and told me other options in case if those fail. She gave me a oral medication which costs less than $10 with my insurance! She introduced a better sunscreen to me to prevent formation of new brown spots. Her office has special formulated Retin-A that will further help with lightening the spot. I am happy to stop using hydroquinone since it was causing redness to my skin & it can’t be used on a long term basis. Dr. Hui put me on a safe lightening serum that doesn’t cause any irritation to my skin. Within 3 weeks of her regimen, I was comfortable to go out in the public without any makeup !!!! I used to spend 20 minutes putting on makeup & concealer and still looked horrible. Now, my routine is less than 5 mins!!! I am now in the third month of treatment , and my skin improved so much without any procedure! I plan to have a few chemical peels to get rid of those residual pigment. I feel liberated !!!! "Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology and especially Dr. Hui is the best dermatologist around!! Anything concerning the skin go to Dr. Hui - absolutely 1000% worth the investment. I first went to Dr. Hui due to a psoriasis flare up and I wanted to have a skin consultation since I am getting married. I had suffered from psoriasis for the last 10 years, visiting multiple dermatologists, with an itchy scalp, skin flakes constantly. Dr. Hui quickly identified that the reason I was not getting better is that I have psoriasis along with seborrheic dermatitis. She took the time to explain to me exactly what that meant, tips for avoiding flare-ups and prescribed a treatment plan that fits in with my lifestyle. At no point did I feel rushed and Dr. Hui took the time to answer all the questions I had. Fast forward 4 weeks later, I am completely cleared of all scaly patches and I am no longer reliant on using topical steroids daily for the first time in 10 years. I can even wear black without fear that white flakes would show up all over my clothes. I wanted to lighten the hyperpigmentation around my face due to earlier years of sun damage and Dr. Hui recommended the IPL (Intense Pulse Light) laser treatment. She even took the time to explain why she was recommending the IPL as oppose to other laser treatments so I was informed when making my decision to go ahead with the treatment. After 1 session the majority of my hyperpigmentation is gone! My skin has never looked better. Just this week, I went on a trip and unfortunately developed a large rash all over my body. I was able to call the office and they were very accommodating to getting me an appointment that same day. I went to see Dr. Hui again and it turns out I contacted scabies. Dr. Hui was once again able to put me to ease and recommend an effective treatment plan. It has been about 2 days and I am already starting to see my skin clear. My fiance also sees Dr. Hui for eczema and also had amazing results. Similarly, he went to another doctor before Dr. Hui and never was able to achieve clear skin without skin lesions. After seeing Dr. Hui my fiance's eczema is under control. Dr. Hui is so extremely knowledgeable, caring and patience that you do not have to worry about going to multiple doctor visits without any results and being rushed out the door. I wish I had heard of Dr. Hui and Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology years earlier. "Don't bother going anywhere else for your skin concerns! Now that I'm reaching middle-age I had developed a pretty serious case of papular rosacea that was progressively getting worse. After trying several different things nothing was making a difference, in fact, some of the creams/lotions I tried made the rosacea worse! I had been to this practice years before, but had never met with Dr. Hui. She is great, down to earth and really took the time to listen to all of my concerns/questions. I never felt rushed or pressured into buying things I wasn't sure about or felt wouldn't complement what I already had next to my sink. Dr Hui prescribed a simple AM/PM routine along with v beam laser treatment to help eliminate the redness on my cheeks. Within 1 month, my skin felt AND looked great. Their rosacea combo gel is not drying (unlike Metro gel!) and it really helped clear up the redness/papules. I use it nightly along with the other items she suggested. After 4 months, my skin just keeps getting better. If you have skin issues that aren't resolving or you just want to look your very best, I highly recommend making an appointment with Dr. Hui. She is super-knowledgeable about the most current & effective treatments to give you your fabulous, glowy skin back."

"First of all, I want to thank Dr Hui, who has transformed my skin. I have rosacea/acne/eczema (and some other stuff...). I am a doctor myself, and I had tried everything. I had been to numerous dermatologists for lasers and prescriptions creams. I have been to numerous dermatologist and estheticians in multiple states and have spend upwards of $5,000 before coming to Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatolgy and seeing Dr. Andrea Hui. As soon as Dr. Hui came in the room she knew exactly what I needed to fix my skin. She and along with her awesome, very polite and super knowledgeable assistant, Ariana, will service your skin needs in an unparalleled manner. I am all about one thing, which is results. As mentioned above I have spent and have been to numerous dermatologist that have wasted so much of my time and money. Before meeting with Dr. Hui I used countless creams, injections, peels, facials, etc.,etc.! As a result of so many failed attempts at fixing my scars and pigmentation I started to research, which lead me to Dr. Hui. "Dr. Andrea Hui is an absolute miracle worker! I came to Dr. Hui extremely frustrated and defeated because my skin was the worst it has ever been - I had acne all over my chin and cheeks and red scars everywhere. Prior to coming to Dr. Hui, I tried everything to get rid of my acne including different dermatologists, several elimination diets and too many harsh skin care products that wouldn't clear up my skin but would just dry it out. I was referred to Dr. Hui by a friend who had been seeing her for a while and had completely cleared up her skin. I was extremely reassured after my first appointment with Dr. Hui as she was confident that she could help clear up my skin and I completely trusted her because I had seen her results on other people. She put me on a new skin care regimen (that I will never change because the products are amazing) and started me on v-beam laser to help fill in the acne scars. "Dr. Hui completely transformed my skin and I cannot recommend her more highly! I have had rosacea for more than 20 years. In that time I have seen countless dermatologists (including some of the "best" in NYC and SF) and experimented with dozens of skincare products and prescriptions. The results have always been minimal and often made my face even redder and more irritated. This led to a general skepticism of dermatologists and feeling that the rosacea was just something I would have to live with. "I have struggled with acne and acne scarring since sophomore year of high school (I am now 20). No matter what I tried and who I saw I just couldn't get my acne under control. My skin only worsened when I went off to college. I was so insecure about my skin that I would try to avoid going out in the sunlight or in bright lighting. I even tried to stop looking at myself in mirrors because it made me so self conscious. My skin was affecting my social life and desire to see people in a negative way and was a constant source of stress and anxiety (which only made my acne worse). That is, until I began working with Dr. Hui in the summer between my freshman and sophomore year of college. In the year since meeting Dr. Hui my acne and scarring has improved dramatically. I am now more confident and excited about going out and seeing people. Dr. Hui started me on a very low dose of Accutane and a nighttime retin-a. Her goal was to clear up the acne first and then work on the scarring underneath. When the acne began to clear up, Dr. Hui started doing V-Beam lasers on my scarring. This reduced the red spots on my skin that I had had for years. Before the V-Beam I couldn't remember the last time that I looked at my face and it wasn't a red, blotchy mess. Last week Dr. Hui performed a Fraxel laser on my skin to even out the texture and alleviate more of the scarring. While it has only been a week since the procedure, the results are very noticeable. My skin is much smoother and has less marks from scarring and will only continue to improve over time (according to Dr. Hui).
