"I started coming to BACD about a year ago for concerns related to aging and sun damage. I am 60 years old. I had Botox and Juvaderm treatments before, but I was interested in newer products that were being used by Dermatologist's, currently. I have exclusively seen Dr Austin. She is a top teaching Dr. with so much knowledge, experience, and expertise in skin related care and issues. I have had zero issues with booking and confirming my appointments. I always receive emails and texts, letting me know of my appointment status. When I arrive, the reception staff is always kind, efficient and helpful. In December I decided to take GLP1 to lose 30 lbs. I started at 180lbs. I am now at 152 lbs. I was told, by friends, and the media, that that much rapid weight loss could affect my skin around the neck, jawline, and face. I wasn't too worried, though because I knew that I had already been practicing a very good skin care routine and excellent filler and Xeomin results, based on my visits with Dr. Austin. I am completely thrilled that my skin, especially on my face and neck, is an excellent shape! I am on a maintenance routine with filler and Xeomin at this point. "I've been seeing Dr. Austin for nearly four years now and she is without a doubt the best dermatologist in SF. Dr. Austin is brilliant and ahead of all the latest, cutting edge treatments, warm and collaborative, and extremely perceptive. I go a few times a year for Botox and Clear + Brilliant treatments (mini laser to heal sun damage). My face tends to be very expressive when I talk, so before I started seeing Dr. Austin, I would accumulate frown/squint lines easily. I also have an active lifestyle and spend a lot of time outdoors in the sun. With the minimal number and dosage of treatments each year, my forehead wrinkles have disappeared, sunspots are gone, and my skin looks so healthy, smooth, and glowing to the point that I'm often told I look over a decade younger than my actual age. Dr. Austin is passionate about helping her clients look their best, and her positive, delightful energy pervades the clinic. She gets to know you as a patient and as a person, so the treatments are tailored uniquely for you, your lifestyle, and your goals for appearance. "I have been to many top dermatologists over the years, and Dr. Austin is most certainly among the very best. She came highly recommended by one of California's most well known plastic surgeons for her unique ability to keep patients looking natural and better, younger (in my case) versions of themselves. I am now in my 60s, and have done various laser treatments, Botox and fillers at BACD. Looking at the before/after photos from when I started seeing Dr. Austin three years ago vs. now is remarkable - my skin looks 10 years younger than it had. "Dr Austin took my decent mid-50's skin and flagging self-esteem and made them really, really great. She flawlessly filled old acne scars, removed pre-cancer bits and rosacea, smoothed wrinkles, snatched up my jawline and explained how anatomy and biochem work during my visits. She's made a long-term plan for me and all her patients that seem like the minimum of highly effective things, so we all look startlingly better but still believable and healthy. "I have been seeing Dr. Austin for 4 years now. I initially saw her when I was experiencing some difficult to treat acne in my early 20s. She listened to my concerns and really educated me on proper skin care. Since then she has continued to help provide new products/recommendations based on my needs at that time. I have also been seeing her for filler and botox treatments for the past two years. She has always listened to what I wanted and given me incredible results. She keeps things natural and really has an amazing eye for the face and facial structure. Beyond her work, she is a really incredible doctor. Her office staff are very friendly & helpful. After washing my face (they provide makeup pad removers, facial wash & a hair band), photos were taken including one with a camera to determine sun damage. Dr. Austin has a very positive, glowing energy about her & was very easy to speak with about my skin concerns. After a full review of my skin & my skincare regimen, I got 20 units of Xeomin in my forehead & removal of a mole that was progressively getting larger on my upper lip. Thankfully the lab report indicated that it was benign. I visited again about 10 days later for additional freckle removal & treatment for sun damage on my neck, as well as a check in for my Botox injections to see how it settled in. The Botox looked great & my skin was smooth. I've healed up from my 2nd visit & my skin looks great.Her strongest recommendations is to always wear sunblock (I wear 2-3 layers on my face but I forgot to apply on weekdays to my neck when I was living in Hawaii which resulted in 15 years of sun damage while driving )."

Dr Austin has a reputation for being extremely careful and honest with her patients and each botox procedure I have had with her has been flawless. I also have to shout out nurse mary who is a rare gem in this industry. She makes any procedure comfortable-- even microneedling. She is so deeply personable and makes every patient feel special. The supporting staff is always so patient and caring as well... and Monica the esthetician who supports dr Austin is another absolute gem and has a fabulous bed side manner-- this office is unique in its precision with treatments and lovely people to make sure you’re always at ease."

"I found Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology via Yelp. I made my first appointment and had to wait for a month and a half to get in which was over a year ago. I had been to so many Dermatologists, Cosmetologists, clowns, rip offs you name it, this wait was so worth!! I had melasma due to my pregnancy, very bad acne scars. When I saw Dr Austin, I bombarded her with all my bad experiences and kept asking for a chemical peel, sounds so funny now:-) She brought me back to earth and came up with a plan and took her time to explain me about my issues first and then the steps of her plan. Within a few months, my melasma was almost gone. We are still working on my acne scars but they ve almost disappeared as well. Dr. Austin is the BEST dermatologist I have ever come across by far!! She fixed all my medical skin issues and my confidence as a result. In the meantime, I moved to South bay and have been driving an hour an a half to Sf to see her!! Also, I started doing Botox and fillers with her (I am 42). This place is worth every penny! Do yourself a favor and go see Dr. Austin if you have skin issues! She is an amazing sorcerer!"
"Joining Yelp and providing a review for Bay Area Cosmetic is long overdue. I have been a patient of Bay Area Cosmetic for more years than I can remember (think back to Laurel Village when the office was the size of a closet!!!). Dr. Kathleen Welsh and Dr. Andrea Hui Austin are the consummate professionals when it comes to dermatology and I trust my face and my skin to no one else. For over 15 years I saw Dr. Welsh exclusively but in recent years, and as a result of a more robust practice, I have transitioned to being a patient of Dr. Austin. Through regular visits I am able to maintain a rejuvenated appearance with a clear complexion. Dr. Austin has a tremendous understanding of the bone structure and muscle placement of the human face. Her skill in administering delicate injections is something to behold. The results to my skin are subtle but with noticeable improvements both in appearance and texture. I never leave the office looking 'done', rather I leave feeling refreshed and more youthful whilst at the same time looking natural. On many occasions after receiving injectables I have been able to attend work functions the very same day. Minimal bruising, no down time and a natural appearance. I have read through many of the reviews for Bay Area Cosmetic, in particular, the 1 and 2 star reviewers who mention long delays in the waiting room. Unfortunately this happens sometimes, even for long standing loyal patients like myself. Based on my experience this is because both Dr. Welsh and Dr. Austin are focused when they are in the treatment room with each patient. When I am in the treatment room with the doctor I have never felt rushed. On the contrary, both doctors take time to listen and then, most importantly, take their time to administer treatments. It is because of their highly personalized service and attention to detail with treatment protocols that sometimes they can get a bit behind on the schedule. Over the years I have recommended many people to Bay Area Cosmetic with confidence and will continue to do so. I trust my dermatological needs to no other practice in San Francisco."

"Dr. Hui is in a league of her own! - My entire experience from the moment I walked in far exceeded any expectation I could have ever imagined. Dr. Hui is truly an artist! I have been to so many plastic surgeons and dermatologists trying to correct the shadows that I see on my forehead but NOBODY was able to correct them until I came to see Dr. Hui. My forehead is very small and it was fairly flat, with multiple recessed ridges that appeared as dark shadows. I would get botox to prevent the appearance of wrinkles but nothing seemed to erase the darkness around my temples and the depression in the center of my forehead that seemed to negatively exaggerate all of my other facial contours. Every other doctor that I had seen could not fix the issue, but Dr. Hui completely understood my vision and knew exactly what I needed. "Wow, what I can say?! I love Dr. Hui because Dr. Hui made me love my skin again. I don’t frown at myself in the mirror the first thing in the morning anymore. I see an overall improvement in my skin tone and texture and got compliments from coworkers and friends who noticed a difference in a few weeks.I looked up Dr. Hui on yelp and decided to give her a try. My skin before I saw Dr. Hui was very sensitive, dry and sun damaged; my skin was also thinning due to aging so I lost volume around my eyes, cheeks and especially around my smiley line area. I met with Dr. Hui, who quickly identified my skin issues, and took time to ask me what my goals are with my skin, made some recommendations on daily home skin care and answered my questions. Our goal for me is to have beautiful skin that doesn’t need any makeup to cover up.We settled on a home care regime that I thought was agreeable, decided to get fillers that day and photo facials in a few weeks. Dr. Hui performed the injections of the fillers her self, she was fast and gentle and I didn’t get any bruise at all. After I went home, I started using the products she recommended and following the home care regime we agreed upon. My skin has improved significantly over the past few weeks. The products Dr. Hui recommend for me to use as part of my home care skin routine were reasonably priced compared to skin care products at Sephora, SAKs or Neiman. The best part that made me have more confidence in purchasing skin care products based on Dr. Hui’s recommendations is that her recommendations are based on my skin, what need to be improved and what need to be corrected, very personal and there is no guessing game.I went back to see Dr. Hui after 4 weeks of following my home care regime for our scheduled photo facial. I also am not trying to look decades younger, only slow the external manifestations of aging. This goal is exactly what Dr. Welsh continues to achieve. The work is subtle, yet I am always met with disbelief when I tell people I am fifty-eight. (I should add that I have been using Retin-A since I was thirty, and Dr. Welsh says this makes a huge difference.)Since Dr. Hui has come on board I have seen her once for fillers, with the same excellent results. I wanted to get another intensive peel this year, which Dr. Hui administered eight days ago. The product Dr. Hui currently uses has a much quicker turn-around than the previous two-week period. "I have asymmetrical chin. One side of the face is a little under-developed than the other. As the most noticeable result, the jar line is incoherent at the tip of the chin with left half about 0.5cm smaller than the right. I always thought it would require complicated and intrusive surgery with thousands of $$$ to fix the asymmetry.After consulting with a renowned plastic surgeon Dr. Eshima, I was advised that a simple chin filler procedure will solve the whole problem and Dr. Hui was recommended. Of course, I did a bit of "google research" before going to Dr. Hui's office just to understand the pros and cons of different common materials, such as Juvederm, Radiesse, etc. During my consultation with Dr. Hui, Juvederm Vollure was brought up. Later I found out that just one month ago, Vollure was approved by FDA although it has been used for a long time in Europe. According to Dr. Hui, Vollure has softer texture than Radiesse but last just as long (dissolve in 1-1.5 years). After agreeing on the material and pricing ($850/cc), she and her staff quickly got on their feet and used one syringe on my most needed area. The procedure itself only took about 10 minutes and Dr. Hui was chatting w me casually the whole time to calm my nerve down with all that needle work. Under half an hour, my life long problem was GONE with almost no pain or any scar at all! I was truly amazed! After 2 sessions of 1 cc Vollure and Dr. Hui's magic hands, the chin now looks amazing! "I love Bay Area Dermatology. I go to both Dr. Welsh and Dr. Hui. I switch off because I love them both. They have similar styles of treatment in that they both want to give you your best skin possible- while giving you a natural look. I think it looks awful when someone's face is over treated. I really appreciate that they both are perfectionists and don't over do it. You can always go in for more! Recently, I went to Dr. Hui for v-beam to combat my redness as well as Botox and fillers to combat aging. "Dr. Andrea Hui is the best dermatologist I have ever been to on every level. She is kind, extremely knowledgeable and supremely skilled. Before I was even a patient of Dr. Hui's she actually advised me on the questions I should ask other dermatologists before I began getting botox, and filler. She has been my dermatologist for about 3 years now and I can honestly say my face and skin are exactly where I want them to be.

"I am compelled to write another review on Dr. Hui because I am just so amazed with her talent. She is an exceptional dermatologist. I first saw her in Sept. 2014 to clear up my skin for my up-coming wedding. Not only did she clear up my skin super fast but she transformed my skin entirely. At my initial visit I was just desperate for clear skin but this miracle doctor gave me much more than clear skin; she gave me healthy, glowing skin, which was not something I ever thought I could have. Once I achieved totally clear and radiant skin and since I trust her completely, I began to experiment with filler. Love the results. I recently went back to get filler in my lips and am totally happy. It didn't hurt at all (and I am a big wimp) and she does it in such a way that you don't get that awful duck-lip (unless that's your kind of thing...). "My dentist said that I was grinding my teeth and that Botox might help. Cue disbelief. He recommended this office, and I saw Dr. Hui for Botox. She said that my jawline was very wide, and that Botox would slim my face too. It turns out I've been pretty self-conscious about my wide jaws my whole life, besides my jaws feeling tight all the time and ruining my teeth. She took her time explaining how Botox works and how it would affect my muscles and profile. I was pretty stoked. Dr. Hui injected me with Botox to my jaw. Hui, a board-certified Dermatologist, who is a member of Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology.I have seen Dr. Hui two times for Restylane and Botox treatments, and I am very satisfied with her work. Dr. Hui has studied art, and she is a concert pianist: her artistic background is reflected in her dermatology practice. She is a perfectionist with artistic sensitivity. I have seen a couple of other physicians for fillers, and I can say that Dr. Hu is the best by far. She has a great eye for knowing just where to use fillers to highlight your features. Dr. Hui uses a cannula rather than a needle to deliver the filler. Not all dermatologists are trained to do this procedure, but it eliminates the bruising that often occurs after filler injections. "Doing Me - Botox, Belotero, & VBeam for Variety of Concerns - San Francisco, CA - It's been a few months since I was summarily broken up with by my former partner of 14 years and right before Valentine's was in an emotional place to focus on ME. I had noticed over the last year that my rosacea was getting worse and the under-eye area was getting noticeably "deeper" and not as full as it once was. In addition, having been raised in the sun, I have had a history of skin cancer (basal & squamous) and wanted to find a Dermatologist who could address the medical & my cosmetic needs. After asking friends who they recommend for a Dermatologist, I made an appointment with Dr. Hui. I could not be more pleased. I've seen Dr. Hui twice and I'm thrilled with my skin elasticity, glow, lift, lightness, and overall appearance! The great part is that I don't look "pulled back" or "plastic" or radically different in any way. I look like me and no one has said to me that I look like I've had "work done." The comments that I've had from friends and family is that I look like I'm glowing and no one knows what I've done! My first visit in February with Dr. Hui was to address the areas on my forehead and eye area with Botox. I had zero bruising and it didn't hurt! I expected the injections to hurt from what I had seen on tv but it didn't! I also had Belotero to fill in the deep recesses of my under eye area and immediately I saw the difference! For more 'intensive' procedures like laser, Dr. Hui and the lovely Medical Assistants do their utmost to minimize any discomfort with icepacks, numbing cream, and prednisone. I've had no bruising or discomfort from any of the procedures I've undergone. While there were needles involved with the Botox and Belotero, I didn't feel any pain whatsoever which really surprised me because I bruise very easily. On my second visit, Dr. Hui addressed my pre-cancerous spots, removed a number of skin tags, and I under went the VBeam laser treatment to my entire face to address the redness due to rosacea. Dr. Hui once again was very upfront about the procedure, costs, why she recommended the VBeam, and made sure that I was very comfortable and numb before the laser treatment. The laser treatment went actually faster than I thought it would and she did my entire face and it didn't hurt as much as I was expecting it to. What I appreciate about Dr. Hui is that she is a genuinely caring person and is passionate about her work which comes through. Dr. Hui isn't just a 'pusher' of products which I presume could be 'easy' for a Dermatologist. Dr. Hui takes you, your face, and issues/concerns into consideration and doesn't want to 'fix what's broken'. I have more treatments planned to address the redness of my skin and she'll continue to monitor my pre-cancerous spots and I look forward to seeing her again. Honestly, after she was done, I don't think I've ever looked as attractive! She somehow managed to make my lips just a little bit bigger (the perfect size) and lift my eyebrows a little higher on my face. I almost felt like I had gone for a mini facelift..I had no idea Juvederm and/or Botox could be that effective! My only wish is that it lasted longer. "I'm a 69 year old woman who colors her hair and wears it spiked up to look "youthful" and decided it was time to upgrade the face so that everyone would believe the brown hair (hahaha). I visited Dr. Hui twice, three weeks apart, and she used both Radiesse and Bolotero during each session. I will review Radiesse here and will write another review for Bolotero. Dr. Hui used the Radiesse to plump out the hollows in my cheeks and to firm up my jaw line. She used a cannula, which means that she made only four needle sticks into my cheeks and jaws (cheek/jaw on each side) and then used a long bendy needle to swish around under my skin and place the Radiesse where needed. The needle business felt weird but was pretty painless. Filling out my cheeks and jawline not only gave my face a more youthful appearance but also caused a lot of my droop (jowls) to lessen significantly. Hooray!!Dr Hui took before and after photos but I didn't take any of myself."

"I suffer from Parry Romberg Syndrome which includes Partial Facial Atrophy. I have been through many cosmetic reconstructive procedures including sculptra and a fat transplant. These past procedures were not only painful but ineffective. The treatment I received from Dr. Hui was amazing. She used a combination of Radiesse, Juvederm, and Belotero. She was able to literally sculpt my face to give me a close to symmetrical appearance. Her cannula technique, which is a long needle with a round tip, was nearly painless. Past procedures where a regular needle was used were extremely painful and much less effective. The Radiesse was used to fill in where I had a lack of bone structure, this product has lasted more than a year already. Juvederm Was used in the softer areas where I had a lack of fat in my cheeks and lips. The Belotero was put in under my eyes to fill in any hollows and helped with the dark appearance I had. "First, I saw Dr. Hui about my acne. Homerun. I suffered from crazy acne my whole life because I have polycystic ovary syndrome. I'm a skincare therapist, and trust me I've tried pretty much everything to clear my acne. But it was literally so stubborn that I gave up. when it did start to clear up, I was able for the first time to imagine my skin break out free, you could say I was a little more than impressed. Because of Dr. Hui, my acne is cleared. Whoo hoo!I just wanted to update my review to talk about my last appointment, which was filler by Dr. Hui- Restylane Silk to be exact. DANG! I'm half Sicilian and part Cherokee Indian. One of the dominating hereditary traits in my Sicilian side is the dark, saggy, under eye area. On the Native American side, high cheekbones angle no way that kind of Pinterest things at the center of my face. It basically causes most people on the Indian side of my family to have deep lines on either side of our nose and mouth. Have literally had these lines and saggies since I was a little girl. If it gets messed up and lumpy like that first doctor suggested I have a lot of Cheerios at home to drown my sorrows in. "Great Results with Botox for the 11s - San Francisco, CA - I went in to see Dr. Hui for a skincare consultation and light botox for the 11s. I found Dr Hui to be very warm, knowledgable and professional. She is a highly skilled injector and I am more than happy with my results. "I recently went to see Dr Andrea Hui in order to get two prominent blue veins removed by laser treatment from underneath my eyes. I was not looking forward to having the protective metal eye shields inserted but Dr Hui was so gentle I was in no discomfort whatsoever. The blue vein was removed by just a couple of short snaps from the laser and the results look fantastic. I was so impressed by Dr Hui's competence and skill that I went back to have a filler (Belotero) to improve the hollows underneath my eyes. I had the procedure done yesterday and it has taken years off my appearance and looks totally natural. Once again Dr Hui was extremely gentle and I had no bruising whatsoever on my fair skin."

Dr. Hui did an AMAZING job with Restylane Silk, and I had almost no swelling (she gave me prednisone). I have always swelled up like a balloon after a filler procedure, and have to stay home for a couple days. But today, I was able to make it to my night class, so it's unreal how much little downtime I needed. I will still go back to Dr. Hui just because her artistic eye is really, really on point. She also has an aesthetic consultant (forget her name :/) during the procedure–almost like a second opinion (I've never seen that before..other doctors just put it wherever they felt like at the time). Normally, I'm OCD when it comes to my appearance, and other doctors have left me somewhat unsatisfied during post-op (which makes me go back and re-fill another area...). "69 Year Old Woman Looking Her Age - Brooklyn, NY - Dr. Hui exudes competence and calm and is also very friendly and pleasant to be with. She starts by having you look into a mirror and describe what areas you think need attention and how you would like them to improve. Then throughout the sessions she has you continue to look at yourself in the mirror to see if you're satisfied with how things are going. She, herself, is constantly backing away to evaluate the filler to make sure that both sides of your face will look the same and to decide where she will do the next filler placement. She has an expert feel for facial structure and goes back in for just a drop more here or there to make sure everything is perfect."
"69 Year Old Woman Looking Her Age - Brooklyn, NY - I'm a 69 year old woman who colors her hair and wears it spiked up to look "youthful" and decided it was time to upgrade the face so that everyone would believe the brown hair (hahaha). I visited Dr. Hui twice, three weeks apart, and she used both Radiesse and Bolotero during each session. I will review Radiesse here and will write another review for Bolotero. Dr. Hui used the Radiesse to plump out the hollows in my cheeks and to firm up my jaw line. She used a cannula, which means that she made only four needle sticks into my cheeks and jaws (cheek/jaw on each side) and then used a long bendy needle to swish around under my skin and place the Radiesse where needed. The needle business felt weird but was pretty painless. Filling out my cheeks and jawline not only gave my face a more youthful appearance but also caused a lot of my droop (jowls) to lessen significantly.
