Rhinophyma is caused by chronic rosacea. and interestingly can occur in patients with few or no other symptoms rosacea. Left untreated, the inflammation from rosacea can lead to an overgrowth and disfigurement of nasal tissue. It's important to diagnose and treat rosacea as early as possible to prevent rhinophyma but thankfully it can be treated. Dr. Andrea Hui Austin treated this patient with a combination of electro-loop cautery and Fraxel Repair CO2 resurfacing laser.
