Dr. Andrea Hui Austin is a partner at Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology and a double board-certified Dermatologist. She joined the practice in 2014. Dr. Hui Austin spent many years perfecting the art of cosmetic dermatology, training in dermal fillers like Restylane and Juvéderm, wrinkle relaxers like Botox, Dysport, and Xeomin, as well as laser treatments like skin tightening and resurfacing. She also focuses on the diagnosis of skin cancers and treatment with Mohs micrographic surgery and reconstructive surgery. Dr. Hui Austin is dedicated to helping her patients achieve and maintain beautiful skin through education and a personalized skincare plan.
She is highly trained to perform advanced cosmetic procedures and qualified to assess and address most skin care conditions, from minor blemishes to the diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer. Her artistic craftsmanship and passion for her patients’ needs make Dr. Austin a unique asset to Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology.
Dr. Hui Austin was born and raised in Chicago. She completed her medical training at the University of Illinois, graduating at the top of her class as a recipient of the Alpha Omega Alpha award. After finishing her medicine internship at the University of Chicago-Evanston Hospital, she moved to New York City to complete her dermatology residency at SUNY Downstate, serving as chief resident. Dr. Hui Austin then received further training in Mohs surgery and cosmetic dermatology in a procedural fellowship at SUNY Downstate with the past president of the American Academy of Dermatology, Dr. Daniel Siegel.
In addition to serving patients, Dr. Hui Austin is passionate about teaching. She has authored over 20 papers and book chapters, with a special focus on acne and integrative medicine. Since 2017, Dr. Austin has been a national educator for Galderma (manufacturer of Restylane and Sculptra fillers), holding one-on-one injectables sessions to teach other physicians how to safely inject patients with an artistic eye. She also participates in national and worldwide advisory boards for Galderma, Merz, and Allergan. Dr. Hui Austin regularly welcomes dermatology residents to spend a few days with her in the office to learn procedural dermatology. Dr. Austin has been honored with the Top Doctor by Castle Connolly designation every year since 2019.
Dr. Hui Austin lives in San Francisco with her husband, son, and adorable dogs. She is an extraordinarily talented pianist, a huge Warriors fan, and an avid traveler.
After an excruciatingly long and painful search with multiple procedures around the world I finally found Dr. Austin at BACD, from scrolling Instagram no less! I began my journey with a plea to the front office staff to be treated by no one but her and after careful consideration was granted my request. I was clear in my initial consultation with Dr. Austin my priorities were progress and pain management, and even though there were some hiccups along the way, I'm glad we stayed the course. Dr. Austin attends conventions about my condition which primarily affects the highly melanated, and even though I've been treated by published specialists before, it's clear her approach is specialized and reflects the care and dedication she has to her patient's overall well-being. She involves students in her practice who hopefully will carry the torch for future generations to receive treatment and guidance from. Thank you, Dr. Austin!
