Acne. Rosacea. Post-inflammatory pigmentation (PIH). This beautiful woman had suffered for many years with the symptoms of all three conditions. In addition to acne breakouts, she also had overall redness and sensitivity due to rosacea, making it difficult to find the right skincare that wouldn't make her condition worse. She also experienced long-lasting dark pigmentation every time she had a breakout. She sought out Dr. Austin for help. Dr. Austin provided education regarding the specific order in which each condition would be treated, before even attempting cosmetic procedures. Rosacea was the first condition to tackle, and it was important to identify the correct gentle topicals that would not irritate the patient's sensitive skin. Our BACD Rosacea combo gel (ivermectin & metronidazole) came to the rescue, calming down the skin mites that cause rosacea bumps and gently reducing inflammation. Rosacea-specific SPF like Elta46 Clear (containing calming niacinamide) and SkinBetter Trio (the most gentle of our moisturizers) helped to calm down the patient's flare, along with oral medication minocycline. After several weeks, this patient's skin was ready to move onto next Vbeam. Then, acne and PIH were next. Once rosacea was under control, BACD Retin-B (Tretinoin) was carefully introduced to remove the comedones (clogs) that create acne. Oral and topical tranexamic acid were added to the regimen to reduce the dark PIH that was caused by years of breakouts.
