Shannon Watkins, MD FAAD, is a board-certified dermatologist committed to helping her patients look and feel their best. Dr. Watkins joined the team at Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology, by way of New York, in 2021. She is passionate about integrating the latest technologies and advancements in cosmetic dermatology to provide a customized treatment plan for each patient. She welcomes the opportunity to develop lasting relationships and care for new patients in her community.
Dr. Watkins completed her dermatology residency training in 2013 at New York-Presbyterian Hospital / Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City, while at the same time, serving on the Dermatology housestaff at the adjacent Memorial-Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. She then completed a Hair and Cosmetics fellowship with pioneering hair-transplant surgeon, Dr. Marc Avram, and was an Assistant Clinical Professor of Dermatology at Weill Cornell Department of Dermatology in NYC for almost a decade. She completed her medical training at the Columbia University Vagelos College of Physicians and Surgeons. She took her undergraduate degree in Biology (graduating Cum Laude) at Brown University.
Dr. Watkins has significant experience in aesthetic dermatology - facial fillers, neuromodulators, lasers, chemical peels, and skin tightening procedures to name a few. She is also highly educated in the diagnosis and treatment of a broad array of skin conditions, including hair loss and restoration (having completed specialized training in both), acne, rosacea, melasma, psoriasis, eczema, and sun damage. During an initial consultation, Dr. Watkins will get to know you and your goals, then recommend a bespoke treatment plan to help your skin become the best version of itself.
When not seeing patients, you can find Dr. Watkins with her husband and three children enjoying their active life in San Francisco. She loves exploring new neighborhoods and playgrounds with her family, skiing, yoga, trying new restaurants, and traveling home to visit family and friends in Hawaii and NYC.
