Prior to establishing her private practice, Bay Area Cosmetic Dermatology, in 2000, Dr. Kathleen Welsh served as the director of cosmetic dermatology and as the chief of dermatology for The Permanente Medical Group’s Kaiser Foundation Health Plan in San Francisco. During that time, she established and directed The Permanente Cosmetic Dermatology program, which is now used as a model for similar programs nationwide.

Dr. Kathleen Welsh is a highly-educated physician, receiving training from some of the most prestigious institutions in the country. Dr. Welsh received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School and then completed an internal medicine residency at the University of California San Francisco School of Medicine. She completed her residency in dermatology at Stanford University School of Medicine. Dr. Welsh is board-certified in both internal medicine and dermatology.
Dr. Welsh lives in San Francisco with her husband, an emergency physician. She enjoys being in nature, skiing, and kite boarding. Dr. Welsh is active in the TIBA Foundation, a non-profit organization that supplies quality healthcare to people living in rural Kenya. She is also an ardent supporter of She Can, a non-profit organization that provides college education for women in Rwanda, Cambodia, and Liberia.
